Credit card holders livid about 'rate-jacking'

I don't rent cars, I own one, I don't fly anywhere and I don't book rooms in advance. I rarely stay anywhere other than home. Also if you pay for rooms in cash they don't make you pay a deposit. Not to mention if you're renting at the last minute they have rooms marked down, sometimes you can stay in an upgraded room for a standard room price. It's about wheeling and dealing........

I dare say those reward points aren't nearly as costly as the interest they make you pay. I would rather pay cash and give myself "reward points" .

i dont pay any interest..there is no interest on the money you spend on a CC if you pay it off when you get the bill...and they still pay you to spend your own money..yea..a bunch of teenagers will drive you crazy...i got one that loves to wreck cars..i told her..her next car is a city bus...

So there are no fees whatsoever on your cards? You don't pay one extra cent? No transaction fees, or yearly fees? I don't see them issuing fee free cards, how will they make anything?

I'll stick with cash, it works for me.

there are several ways credit card companys make money..i wish i owned one of them..they screw almost everyone..and provide no product to anyone...the just leach off of the transactions made...the credit card user pays up to 3% of the transaction price to the credit card company..if you dont pay your card off every month they will screw you to death on the interest fees..no most credit card companys do not charge the holder of the card a fee..most of them are free...if they charges me to make money off of me..i wont hold the card..i had american express try that one time on me...it didnt work out to well for them......i only have two cards..one MC and one gas card...both pay rebates..it saves me alot of money..and i was going to buy the gas anyways..or whatever purchased...they are just rebating me a little bit for spending my own money..it doesnt seem like much but it adds up ...eespecialy the gas card....i hand out a couple of hundred in gas every year at christmas ..whne you grow up with little money it makes you FRUGAL...so to speak..or some of us it does.the ones it doesnt stAY BROKE ..if you cant afford to pay for it cash..you really cant afford it...people should have 6 months cash reserves to cover all of their bills incase they lose a job.or get sick..how many people do that?that fact is...is socialist security has been raided since the late 60s to support the veitnam war..and the crooks have not stoped raiding it since..{both partys}if you do not start managing your money..you will be broke and in bad shape in the future ..cause social security isnt going to be around..

they charge the SELLER..the user of the card doesnt pay a cent..or the holder of the card..they are free to use..so long as you pay them off at the end of every month..and you get paid to spend the money you were going to spend..ANYWAYS....just like the cash you spent..you should have asked for a 3% discount as who every you purchased from doesnt have to pay the credit card company ..he makes a little extra money..i dont mind that..but with cash..no one is paying you to spend then?

Also with cash I'm not running out and buying shit I don't need and can't afford. A lot of people are feeling fucked right now by credit card debt, and I'm not one of them.

Me either. But I have decent health insurance and a lot of those fucked people have none. Yes my dear, they take credit cards at the doctors and hospitals.

If you know how to use them and what cards/deals to get, that's exactly right. :) They count on people carrying balances. Don't carry a balance and you're not going to pay the interest. Don't use cards that charge a fee to have the card. I make one major exception--American Express. Yes, it's worth it to me and has pulled my ass out of the sling a few times when I've had problems with a merchant, services, or a product. And that's the something that's really worth examining, because this is the one reason why I use my credit cards, to protect myself in a way that using cash will never allow.

With cash, once you hand it over, if the product or service is not what you expected, how easy is it to get your money back? If it's lost or stolen, does your cash come with replacement insurance? If you don't travel then I suppose you don't have to rent cars, but I do travel and have been renting cars since they allowed me to at age 25.

Each method of purchase has its advantages and disadvantages, Hester. If you lose your wallet full of cash, whom can you call to prevent its being spent? Lose your wallet full of credit cards, and if you have things set up right, a single phone call freezes all cards, no loss to you except the time it takes to get them replaced (at no charge).

I'll still stick with being credit card free. One thing I'm not sweating right now is credit card debt, or trying to pay off balances. Paying cash keeps me from spending money I can't afford on crap that I don't need. Actually I know a lot of people that don't use credit cards, rejecting credit cards must be more of a midwest thing.

It may indeed be. It's also a certain type of Italian thing. My point is that simply because it's a credit card doesn't mean it's automatically bad or you're automatically going to get screwed. There are real advantages to using them. I got started way back when because my ex-husband and I wanted to buy a house and couldn't because we had no credit. Unless you can drop that kind of cash, you're going to either be tied to earning yourself a credit score and rating or renting for the rest of your life. I'll take the credit card debt and OWN my own place, free from the vagaries and moods of unwelcome landlords, thank you very much. :D

I own my home, well me and the bank own my home, and we're talking about selling and moving, if possible. My neighbors are all old, it makes for a nice quiet neighborhood, but they keep passing on and their houses keep being turned into rentals. Not for me, we're looking for a place in the country, free of close neighbors.

Getting sick of being able to lean out your window and slug your neighbor?

Sick of people with undisciplined children and crack heads. My neighborhood is going to shit and we want out.

Not to mention, barking dogs at 6 am..............

We retrained our neighbors' barking dogs. (They barked 24/7, and I tried speaking with them about it on two different occasions. They told me they want the dogs to bark. :()
