Every year it happens - outdoor

Okay so I have been at this for 7-8 yrs. Made my share of mistakes and corrections as I went. Used this site for many of the corrections honestly. But this keeps happening every year on multiple plants right as they get to this preflower point. End result has been decent the past 3-4 yrs but I want to improve if possible. My guess is Phosphorus deficiencies and/or pH not allowing uptake as my tap water is around 8.2 but would take other opinions. I really am striving to read the plant(s) better. It’s always on the top 1/3 “inside” of plant and sometimes spreads down and out. They are about 5’ x 5’. It’s not N deficiency I know that because I held it tight and had just a scouch of tip burn and none of the lower leaves are showing this issue.

Grow profile:
Outdoor photos
65G pots in Soil (420)
N is fish emulsion
P&K is dry amendments via top dress (pride lands)

Pictures are from far away to close up for context with the last pic what I am using for dry amendment. I have started pH correction a few weeks ago w/ citric acid to around 6 but it doesn’t seem to stop. I don’t think it’s optimal for this to happen.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. You can also throw rocks at me - my skin is pretty thick now.

This time of year my plants start doing that as well. For me it is the inner, older leaves and seems natural as the plant matures. Your plants look very healthy to me! Soil tends to mitigate PH issues. My plants often look pretty beat up by the time I harvest but the buds are usually pretty good. Any specific issues with your harvest?

Harvests seem decent for the effort I am giving I would say. I don’t have manicured indoor plants like I see mostly on this forum but I don’t get 90% larf anymore either. I average 3/4-1lb per plant of good bud and 0.5 lb of larfy inside stuff (abouta). Maybe it’s the plant telling me she doesn’t need those leaves idk….but I also hear people saying they don’t loose more than 10-20 leaves a year total in a comparable situation and I am typically loosing more like 100 leaves/plant for the year.

No complaints really just more like if this is something I could improve I would like too. Maybe it’s nothing.

Yeah outdoor is a whole nother ballgame than indoor. At the end of their lives plants utilize the more readily available nitrogen in their leaves as they move through flowering. Its called "the fade". Most experienced growers I know believe it makes for a better result. Cannabis is an annual and it naturally dies at the end of a season, unless manipulated indoors to be a mother plant. I wouldn't change anything you are doing.

Being old and broken and living in a hot and dry zone it was always a hose water grow as the hose is about all I can drag around the yard nowadays. 8.5 PH city water that eventually pushed my carefully crafted organic soil far enough out of range I was finishing some of the plants as buds on sticks things got so bad despite using a ton of sulfur dust at every plant change.

I knew what the trouble was and enough searching seemed like ammonium sulfate was the fix being a heavy duty soil acidifier. Indeed it was and I use it starting about early July and give them one last big hit the first of August to carry them through flower with very little fade or lost fans.

A tablespoon per gallon of water works and about a quart per plant 2 weeks apart.

Hi the plants look in great shape.
I would try putting a large bin or barrel near the plants and fill it with the hose, then leave it for chlorine etc. to evaporate then use a little bucket or old saucepan to water the plants. If that's not straining yourself.

Its obvious you know how to grow. I'm in the process of finding which strains do best for me outdoors. I can't grow anything I want, like I can indoors. Just like vegetable gardening, some strains do better in your environment.

I’ll research this thx!

If it’s the yellowing you’re talking about. It’s normal as the plants mature outside. Unless it excessive don’t worry about it. Plants look nice by the way.
Thanks! I am just trying to hone my skill so it’s nice to know it’s normal

I do let the water sit for 2 days between watering- thank you!

They older stuff on the bottom and in the middle of my plants always drops off as the plant gets larger and more dense.
Plants seem to know what leaves are non producers and will lose them.
Ya the lower interior stuff never bothers me…this is up on top. IDK…they are healthy looking otherwise so maybe I’m just tripping
