The pool business is as shady as the ganja nute business.

So, I just saw the bill for the mother in laws pool supplies and almost shat myself.
Seems they employ the well know tactic of repackaging cheap shit with fancy labels then adding a huge tax. Bioguard is the fucking worst.
Most of the salt mixers here can probably easily spot the common ingredient in the fancy named pool supply.

Alkalinity Plus....Baking Soda (BioGuard called the ingredient Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate because Sodium Bicarbonate might be apparent to the average Joe.
PH Plus....Soda Ash or Washing Soda
Calcium Plus.....Ice Melt (Make sure not to get the one with rust inhibitor, just Calcium Chloride with some trace amounts of Potassium and Sodium Chlorides.
PH Minus.....Muriatic acid (4-6 times more cost effective than dry acid Sodium Bisulphate)
Copper Algaecide....Use Copper Sulphate Pentahydrate to get the 0.4-0.6 PPM of the Copper Cation that fights the algae. (can probably treat a hole pool for a buck)

Sadly, the price of chlorine got jacked during covid and prices never went back down.

Yep, as a grower who also works in the pool and spa industry I totally agree. Massively marked up
