Is this a sativa dominant? How long does it take to flower?

The Malawi is a landrace African sativa from Ace seeds. Lots of cool threads on it from growers who finished it right, and used it for smoke. When I harvested it at 18 weeks the pistils were brown, and the trichs were all amber. I was ripening the seeds and let it go till the seeds were harder and brown.
I never gave it a proper cure and just hung the branches until they were very dry, and crumbled most of it up to get the seeds.
All the grow reviews and journals inspired me to use it for breeding. The female I flowered kept stretching and building giant huge colas for weeks. It stretched and grew outward, 3-4 times its initial size when it went into 12/12 at 3 weeks old. The branches all required support, when the buds started fattening.

@ttystikk It should be pretty close to a 50/50 hybrid.
The Sensi Shiva Skunk is, SK1 x NL5.
The Malawi is a landrace sativa. Both genetics are from old, established breeders. I have pretty high hopes for this one!

Given from the first sign of calyx, and pistil formation, yes. Once it started forming buds, it was easily 12-14 weeks more. As I said, I only grew it for seeds. I never kept track of exact times the first pistils emerged etc...The time people refer to "flowering" is often more of the switch to 12/12.
It went in at 3 weeks old, at about 14" tall, and spent 18 weeks in the tent. I would go in, squeeze out a seed, and waited until they became brown and mottled, before I harvested them.
I know several grow reports I've read on the Malawi, say it takes 16 weeks.

I occasionally see pre flowers before flip but I count from the start of 12/12. How long from flip did these take? Or if you didn't record that, how big was the plant when it started showing sex?

I don't recall at which week, it started showing pre-flowers. I just watched it stretch. It spent 18 weeks in 12/12. I waited until about 9 weeks in, when it had fat, white haired buds and dusted it.
The smoke is strong and sedative. I'm sure it was over-ripe.

Okay, so you took it long to make seeds. Do you think it would be ripe in 9 weeks? Also, would you be willing to share a few of those seeds?

I would be glad to share the seeds of the cross I made! I think the cross will finish in 9 - 10 weeks.
The Malawi itself, is a very long flowering sativa, like Hazes. I have a few Malawi fems if you want to try them.

It's been awhile since I posted anything. It's been going well, I just got busy with life stuff. I also cut way back on production, once I discovered the over-saturated weed market! I'm just growing 3-5 plants now, and chasing some older, classic strains.

It's been months since I posted about it, but I made the Ace seeds, Malawi x Shiva Skunk cross. I call it Malawi Wowie. I grew out 3 females. They produced some big yields and took about 10 weeks to flower.

I've been growing a lot of older strains, mostly for nostalgia, and the fun of it. I haven't taken cuts of anything the past 8 months or so. I am dropping different seeds everytime. I'm taking notes and will re-visit some that seemed exceptional. I've got about 80 strains in my seed vault. I collect them like baseball cards. Mostly older strains or an occasional Bodhi, or Rare Dankness strain.
I am currently vegging pre 98 Bubba Kush, Rare Dankness Dark Saber, and an accidental pollination of Boss Hogg x Shiva Skunk. I germinated and planted 5 of those, Shiva x Boss Hogg beans, just to test them. They are doing so well, I may sex them and keep one girl. They are vigorous and growing well. I decided to call them OHigh.

I soaked some Sunshine Daydream beans last night, and expect to find cracked beans this morning. I've been searching for Sunshine Daydream since I last grew it in 2016. I found a BX version of SSDD at Copa Genetics. It seems legit, and he used the Bodhi parents to re-create it. I'm excited about the SSDD. It was one of the best things I ever smoked or grew!

I'm hoping these SSDD beans do well. The guy at Copa Genetics is a Bodhi fan, and worked with some of their strains to create this newer version of Sunshine Daydream.

I attached a strain review and some consumer reviews from people who have smoked it. I am 63 years old and I have been smoking for over 45 years. I've grown weed for about 20 years total, with a break here and there. SSDD is probably the best thing I ever grew, or smoked in my life.
It probably hits all the buttons for me with terpene and buzz profile. Maybe different for other people.

Hi Meoh, been a while since I have been on Roi and thought I’d look you up, nice review on the SSDD, I have been feeling similar nostalgia towards Bodhi’s old Blueberry hashplant.. but I may look up this strain in the meantime till I find it. Nice to see you enjoying some different strains instead of banging out those beautiful canopies, variety really is the spice of life isn’t it?
