plants are going from a fresh lemon smell, to a dirty diesel smell is that normal, or is it just new trichomes growing as plant leaves around buds are starting to look like cob webs, its not rot

theres a strain called NEW YOURK CITY DEISAL, it could be the terp profile of the pheno you have, so dont worry about the smell

I've always found that plants go through a few "phases" of smells as they mature. The first one I always detect is a kind of damp diaper/cauliflower smell. Then that phases into a kind of creosote/tar/petroleum smell at around 6-7 weeks. And finally, they begin to take on the final characteristics at around 10-12 weeks (or beyond)...which could include berries, vanilla, citrus, coffee, pine, etc. If you wait too long, though, the terpenes begin to fade.

I have a few growing right now that smelled like fresh lemon when they first budded, but then quickly turned into a raw diesel fuel smell. Is that normal for diesel weed? The seeds were from the late 1980's, so I'm hoping it's an old school diesel.

Scents and stuff morph over time its normal alot of chemmy stuff has a bit of lemon in its backround especially anything with chem4 in it for example
