What light would you buy? I have a 3.5x4ft grow closet and i will get up to 4 plants in the future but will probably do 2-3 until i feel i am at least a novice lol. I have been looking at the HLG blackbird but the problem is that I am not exactly sure what i want. I want a really good light though i do know that.

I have the bloomplus xp3000

i do still buy weed all the time i just like growing it. i just started growing it back in april and it's fun. i just want to try and get to the point where i can grow weed that is better than the dispo, then i could quit buying it lol.
Not me, lol. Yes I do love growing, but I wouldn't bother with it if I didn't have to.

i will probably get sick of it eventually. i just picked it up as a hobby ... i gave away most the weed i grew because i am a little bit of a weed snob and it wasn't up to my standards.

so ive never heard of this. why a plasma light?
Because they're like 2 grand and have more light output in a bulb the size of your thumbnail, than probably any LED bar fixture on the market. They're not the most efficient, but they definitely have the highest output, best overall growth spectrum and did i mention they're like 2 grand? ;)

Are you telling yourself you are saving money by growing your own??
Once you have the upfront costs out of the way (lights, fans etc) you can totally save money with home grows unless you live somewhere with super high energy costs or super cheap rec weed. My first 2 grows with my current equipment paid for the investment and every grow after that has cost me less than a quarter of what I'd have paid for similar weight and quality. Everybody's circumstances are different, but for me it's a great hobby and saves me a lot of money.

Most of the higher end lights are going to meet your needs. The HLG Blackbird will get the job done. However, it might be too much light for that space if you run it at full power. A 3.5x4ft space is not a lot of space. While light is important, focusing on getting temperatures, humidity and airflow will help produce better grows. So matching light output for an ideal growing environment is key. Someone else mentioned spending more on better quality genetics. I totally agree. Yes, light is important. However, if you don't have the growing media conditions, good genetics, nutrients and environment dialed in you're only going to reach a certain level of quality and quantity that may not meet your own high standards.

I am running Mephisto autos right now and will be doing some photos soon. I seem to hear 2 sides of this story. Get really good genetics or just go to ilgm.com and get the seeds there as they're "good enough".

North Atlantic Seed Co is where i was looking now for photos but I am open to any recommendations.

I have the environment down pretty good got an inline fan, ac, air purifier (idk makes me feel better), and a few fans going 24/7, humidifier, and all hooked up to ac infinity controller 69 (except ac). I generally run 70-83 (70 overnight with the light off) 83 near 4-6pm when it's hottest outside. RH i just set and forget on the controller 69 and it does a darn good job for me at least. there is a lot more info on what i got going on here https://www.rollitup.org/t/go-2.1092874/ and I welcome any feedback if you're willing to take the time to tell.

I just started growing in April and painstakingly got through my first run and learned a lot. Go #2 is working out MUCH better except a litte N deficiency that hopefully I've corrected but took a few days to get my hands on EWC. I try not to but i get obsessive when i am learning something new and feel like it needs to be perfect so i probably ask too many questions.

Great! You're definitely aware of influencing factors on your grow.
If you're going to go HLG, I'd look at a refurbished 650R over the Black Bird. It comes with the same warranty, is more powerful and costs less. I like the design better too as the light is more evenly spread across the fixture.
I've been using North Atlantic Seed for awhile now and haven't been disappointed with anything that I've ordered from them. So, depending on your smoke preference, you should be able to get some pretty decent strains from them. I grew a couple of Ethos strains from them that weren't bad. Green House Seeds and Humboldt Seed Organization both offer strains that have been around a bit and have stable genetics.
Happy growing!

I am, yes. It's like my main focus; spend less & get "more".

Even with my initial investment and "maintenance" like refilling nutrients & coco etc, I'm still way less out of pocket per oz, last time I "crunched the numbers" I'm spending like $40-60 per oz to grow, an oz of the quality I am growing costs substantially more than that where I live.

I don't think you need something as large as the blackbird. I think a 350R would do (I run one in a space that is roughly 3x5). Save your money for some awesome seeds/clones.
Does the 350R run hot? A big part of the reason i want a new light is this bloom plus xp3000 runs hot af, i mean hot. The drivers will literally burn your hand if you touch them for more than 2 seconds. I have removed them from my closet and have them outside on the wall but the light itself still produces a good amount of heat ..... or is this normal? I am assuming HLG probably has something going on for this?

Would you recommend anything over HLG? I say HLG because from the research i have done (google and here and a few other sites) I feel like they are one of the best lights? I should also mention I'll never grow more than 3 maybe 4 plants with it and never have a bigger space than 3.5x4 to grow in. The Blackbird, my thoughts were well it would literally barely fit in my closet and almost touch all 4 walls so there should be light from wall to wall, and then some lmao but i think we're talking about diminishing returns at that point vs 350 and a big price deference. This 350 though covers the perfect amount of area and i think it'd be overkill with the blackbird and not see any better results.
