EZ SCROG Screen

High everyone.. I am relativly new at all this and with the help of alot of you here and at other forums, and have had 6 very productive grows.

I grow SCROG in a 2'X4' box. One of the things that was making me crazy was the screen itself. I was using chicken wire, streached over a 3/4x3/4 inch wood beading and stapled.
Worked great, except at harvest I'd be in there with wire cutters, releasing the colas from the screen that they had grown through. It's a PITA!

So I'm trying this: I am hoping that at next harvest, all I'll have to do is cut 3 -4 ends and pull the entire thing out in just a few pieces.
Leaving the entire plant available for completete removal, plan by plant. Not cola by cola.
We'll see how it goes.

I still use 3/4(18x18cm) x 3/4(18x18cm) wood beading but I pre-drill it, every 2 inches, and screw in those eyelets (any size stuff for any size grow!) but only on 3 sides of the screen. the forth side, closest to your access point shou just be drilled thru so that it is easier to pull tight and hold tension for the next line. I used this weed wacker line.. good color, good weight, pita to tie off. Run longest lines and then weave them front to back. It is pretty solid andI like the color contrast.

I do not know how to interject pictures into the text here, so these thumbnails will show you what it looks like... And I'm thinking that all the great minds here can improve upon, design and complonent selections.

That's Sannies Herijuana at 4 weeks, just trimmed and tied.

i agree good stuff!gave me an idea.
picture drilling holes every 2" on your frame and then screwing in some screws. Then tie string really tight from screw to screw , stretching the string across lenght wise and width wise, making a complete screen of tight string!
Then when crop time comes, you cut the string and it will pull easilly through the nugas and not take long at all.
anyone think thats a good one?

Hi gamble... :joint: 'string' isn't rigid enough to maintain shape while streaching,
unless you tie knots, and that defeats the purpose.
That is why I used the weed wacker mono. Better ideas are appreciated though.

But we'll call it string.

My screen is 2'X4' and I find that using only 1 string meens that that string must be VERY long..

Lets see for just the 4' measurement: 4ft/2inches=24 x 2ft =48 ft...
Plus 2inches X 48" (for the stretch between each of the eylets) X 2 (both sides) = 96inches/12=8ft + 48 =
56 feet for just the 4 foot measurement. Weed wacker stuff cost something like $9 for 126 feet (+/-).

So I used 2 strings: starting one at the back right the other back left and weave to the middle.

1 string is too long to deal with.

I'm tired of screwing with that screen at harvest..

But I'd like more 'improved' ideas.

Thanks for the look.

Nylon rope works well, i used one long rope, harvest time...undo the knot and the whole rope comes loose allowing each individual grid to loosen up to allow the buds thru, or u can un weave the net in a few minutes. It works well cos the rope stretches and allows you to shove your hand through the netting at times of need hehe...

that looks like a lot of fuckin work

I agree. There has got to be some pre-fabricated screen out there that you can just cut to size. Right?

I've never done SCROG before, only SOG. I bet if you spend some time on google you can find screen that will work and save you tons of time and work in the long run.

maybe like chicken wiring.but then you have to fit it in a wooden frame

I believe in the first post he mentioned he wanted to get away from the chicken wire.
:eyesmoke:really?...amazing....bongsmilie:eyesmoke:... whoops... well with the colas getting caught on it how is the weed wacker wire going to work differently?? and doesn't that weed wacker wire look a lot like gymp?
