Bringing a clone from an outdoor plant, inside

I threw a clone outside this summer just to see what would happen. Well, now that I've learned some stuff, I would like to keep a clone for the plant I am growing indoors. But she is too far along in flower and there is not a good site I can clip for a clone. So, if I want to bring this lady in and reveg her and turn her into a mom plant for future use, what are my best options to make sure she's clean when she comes inside? Also, am I better off digging her up and bringing the whole thing in or cutting it and rerooting it?

I absolutely wouldn't bring in the dirt with it.
I'd wash the dirt off and spray it with bug spray 1st.

So, dig up, rinse all dirt, spray (citric acid? Need oil?), replant in fresh soil. Sound good?

Your plan sounds good to me soil has loads of bugs in it but I'm not sure on what bug spray.

I've got citric myself but I've never needed it but i've read a number of times it's effective?

Check it closely before putting it in your tent.

Just curious to why u wanna save her? Imo the time energy and money wasted isn't even close to being worth it. Then to bring problematic infested plant in the house. I say move on.
U will be reveging for a couple months maybe and if u haven't had an infestation indoors yet let me tell u. It makes some wanna throw in the towel (chop early). Clones n seeds come a dime a dozen. Unless it's a high ticket strain or no longer available, smoke those couple J's off that plant and say deuces.

Chop that top off to harvest when it's ready, pull off those 2 popcorn nugs without harming any remaining leaves, then cut above soil, dip in clonex, stick in rockwool cube and clone it again.

I dont care about saving this particular plant per se, but it is a clone if the o e that's going indoors and I would like to have the option of growing it again if this particular pheno is good. The inside plant has nothing left that I can (or am willing to) cut for a clone because it's too far along in flower.

I'm not even worried about those little buds. Plus, I don't think they will finish before the weather goes south.

That sounds like the best idea. Maybe even soak it in a citric acid for a bit and then rinse it off and transplant it into new soil. I'd also keep spraying it with citric acid every 2-3 days for a bit too just to be safe.

Bringing outdoor infested plant indoors is like bringing yo hiv positive friend to an orgy. Yeah u can protect yourself but the chance is not worth it. Just asking for a headache. Reapplying solutions and checking to see if they return. If u got the time and the patience it is definitely doable. Im telling u from experience watch what u ask for. Lol I know yall youngins like bring it on. I aint scared. Me, im tryna lay back and truly enjoy my grow.

Ya, I would. I've never soaked the roots, but I'd do it if it was me. I'd rather have a dead plant than bring bugs inside. But I don't think it would hurt it too much. 1-3 tsp per quart is the amount to use. I've used 3 and most plants handled it well. But I've been trying 2 and just doing it a little more and that works too. I'd only soak it for 45 min-1 hour or so at the most probably though, then rinse off with plain water. I spray all my clones for a bit now when I bring home new strains.

Would air layering be any good here, or would it be a waste of time?
Just wondering others opinions as I don’t have one in this area. I just know it’s a cloning method.

edit: this is beside the fact that it shouldn’t be cleaned before coming inside. I dunked my cuts in IPM solution before coming inside.

In adition to the above concerns you need to be careful the lights don’t burn the plant. LED’s are very intense compared to sunlight.

Yeah, I was kinda already at that decision. Well, she got a nice citric acid bath (2tsp/quart), rinsed off, and put backnin her hole with some fresh compost to top it all off. Not sure she will survive all that, but we can try. Lol. The roots were less than stellar (almost nonexistent). I'm sure some pulled off when I pulled her out of the dirt, but there wasn't a big root ball when I went digging around and looking. Oh well. Live and learn.

Nice. Ya, it's a good idea to spray it outside first if you're even thinking about bringing it in. And it's good practice anyways. You can get cheap or free seeds too, so I wouldn't worry much. Or maybe clones depending on where you live.

Oh, this was a plant from a cheap seed. This clone was off of my Volcano Girl from Happy Bird Seeds.



I am just late in thinking about keeping a clone around for the plant if it turns out to be a solid pheno. I will now resort to attempting to reveg the plant after harvest in order to pull a clone from it if I decide I'd like to keep it around. This first round of growing is all about learning and seeing what works and what doesn't.

Didn't seem to phase her one little bit.
