I love blowing shit up also! Was taught how to respect firearms as a kid with my father. That's when dads spent time with their children and steered them in the right direction. My granddaughter is now in professional competition and can shoot just about any firearm you give her. I pack a 9mm hellcat with optics for my ccw. Love the smell of gun powder.

My daughter shoots crosshanded, she mounts the gun to her left shoulder and she is right handed. She hits what she aims at, I don't know how.

I shot with the forward grip on the rest and the rear grip on the slider bag. Funny thing.....I loaned my neighbor who also grows my good poly fill front bag so he had something solid to rest his air rifle on while shooting out his window. We have a team effort on trying to take on those ganga raiding ground hogs.

Looks like a Harrington & Richards or a variant.
My guess would be .32 cal & good call on not shooting it - it's a good bet the cyl could be out of timing from wear.
Too bad someone rubbed off that patina - most any value it had went with that.

This is the only markings on it. No clue what caliber but .32 sounds about right

From the looks it's a centerfire, so probably not really that old. Even assuming that it was manufactured the same year (1882) as the most popular .32 centerfire was produced (.32-20 WCF).

You know it. It was actually carried by someone (forget) on my wife’s side. We got it when her mom passed so it’ll go to one of the kids

Could be 32 rimfire. Even if you trusted the pistol, good luck finding any.

If it's a centerfire (I'm pretty sure I can see the firing pin that would be in line with the center of the cartridge in your first pic) then it can't be Civil War era. 12 Apr 1861 - 09 May 1865.
Very cool piece though.

With the angle to the bore and that style hammer, my bet is rimfire.
