how can I turn my plants purple without reducing the amount of harvest too much? I can reduce the temperature of the grow room to a maximum of 18c.

If it turns purple it turns purple. Don't go messing around with cold temps and all that nonsense that just turn the leaves purple. If the bud is going to turn purple it will on it's own. Making it cold will only turn the leaves purple and you cut those off anyway.

Grow a strain that purples regardless of temperature if you really want purple weed. Many with purple in the name don't always go purple. Purple weed is nothing special and I've found it to be lacking compared to green weed in most cases.

Let it turn purple on it's own. If it doesn't then just harvest green weed and be happy with that.

No tricks to purple. It's all in the genetics. Grow some Pakistani Chitral Kush from ACE if you want guaranteed purple. It's what many use for making purple strains even though some act like they've done special or have some secret breeding process to get purple weed. Same thing with pink pistils. Nothing special either and many strains do it. Some charge a premium for plants that do it even though it's nothing special and brings absolutely nothing to the table.

Here's a cross I made with Pakistani Chitral Kush and a Durban. As you can see it's purple. No special tricks or anything. It's so simple even a pollen chucker like myself can make purple strains.

My Chemdozer plants are in their "Fall colors" now and the largest buds are starting to turn a lavender colors. The lower buds are still green, though. The plants are in the middle of their 10th week and I plan on letting them go as long as they need to ripen -which may be another week or so. But I think there is going to be some different levels of purpling between upper and lower buds when harvest time comes.

I agree with not trying to force your plants to purple with cold temps. If they are Purple Punch, then they should turn purple on their own. Just be patient and give them more time to come into their colors. Many hybrids will advertise an 8 week finish, but in most cases, it would be better to add 2 or 3 more weeks to that.

Some of these strains look like they'd be worth running if you're more interested in the aesthetics...
