Recommendation for first LED light for a 2' X 4' tent

I suggest a couple of smaller lights that add up to 50w sq ft. Then you have adjustability.
I was going to suggest this. Because the tent isn't square, it may be best to look at it as a 2x2+2x2 in terms of lighting. My tent is 32"x60"... making it roughly 2.6'x5'. Rather than find a long rectangular light I grabbed lights that worked best in a 2x2 space and just put up a few of them.

Get the one or ones ya want is my recommendation.. Considering it is your “first” LED light. I’ve spent 650-700$ on sub-par (no pun intended) leds which amounts to the price of one top end light with. Also go dimmable because I hate the fact of not being able to dial em back. I would love to slowly increase the intensity throughout the grow. I’m no pro by any means, just trying to share my personal experiences as a newer indoors grower.
Btw I’m prolly gonna go with the mars hydro sp3000. It’s 60$ off on Amazon rn.

Same price on the Marshydro site and you can use the rollitup coupon code there, save another $10 or so
Dang! I must’ve misread the price earlier when I looked. Good deal! Thanks yo!!! Wonder how their shipping dept is. I would always rather order direct than Amazon.

That's why I suggested he get 2 optic G Max 300 which will give him over 2000 micromols in every square inch of that tent.

The nice thing is that the decent lights for 2x2 are generally more cost effective for newer LED technology than ones that are large/higher powered.
This is what I learned through trial and error, multiple smaller lights works better for me in my indoor environment than one big light source for even coverage and easy adjustment too
Now to buy more LEDs for veg and a second tent that will be up soon

I wish I had room for a second tent. One it is for me. As it stands though, when I'm dealing with seedlings I'll just use one out of 3 of my lights dimmed down, then I can upscale the lighting as the plants' canopy expands until I have all of them on. I can also dim some and have others brighter depending on what's going on down below too.

I thank you.

The Mars Hydro TS3000 arrives today. The Tent arrives Saturday.

Well as long as I can veg and seed some small plants it will be okay.
I will be doing a side by side grow of Seedsman Blue Dream and Premium Seed Market's Blue Dream.
I want to recreate a fem X fem cross of my medical strain with Blue Dream.
I didn't have much room back 10 years ago and I only got two seeds from that. I liked what little bud grew.

So this is what Premium Seed Market's Blue Dream Picture is

This is what Seedsman's Blue Dream looks like.

From these Feminized two I will make a cross with a Feminize medical strain of mine. From those seeds I will hit those next generation with pollen from the F1 males I have in another tent already to make regulars.

With my not yet named medical strain I like to Code and listen to music.
With that medical X Blue Dream I enjoyed watching movies. It had an emotional aspect. The kind of "cuddle with your lover on the couch and watch movies" kind of thing.

So Hopefully by next winter when I can run the big lights in the big room I can run that gear along with the medical beans.
It sucks to buy weed at the dispensary $$$$ but first things first.
These F1 and S1 seeds I'm working are 10 to 12 years old so it was most important to rescue those genetics up front. There is no way I could recreate that wonderful medical strain I have.

Anyway. I bought the Mars Hydro TS3000. I see that it, like all LEDs, is over priced.
It is a little on the cheep side construction wise I read from reviews but seems to do well.

I think I will need to do a grow journal to do a grow here so it should all come together with the side by side Blue Dream grow. That will be a review there.
The Mars Hydro light and the nifty Zenny 2 X 4 tent which I own one of already and it's okay. Wide but not in the way deep.

My plan and setup is to use tents for veg and clones mostly then when winter comes around grow my 5 plants under Illinois Medical Laws in the big room under four 1k HPS and some COB leds with reflectors for blended spectrum.

I am used to HPS. These medical genetics have always grown under HPS. Just call me Old School. It is something I am comfortable with.

That is it.

So a big THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to be helpful.
It is true I couldn't grow in the tiny trailer I was in for 20 years after climate change became a problem. First it was cold enough in October to run a 1k HPS in a 4' x 4' enclosed small space. Then it turned into November, then December, then January. By March it already was getting too warm so I just had to stop for safety reasons.

I think the Mars Hydro will do for my first Modern LED and for this Blue Dream side by side grow.

It's more 2x3. Still a nice light. I like that blackwing.
Check out the specs on the blackwing, its only 225 watts, so in a 2x4 that would be about 28 watts a sq ft, it will definitely veg a 2x4 as it says it will veg up to 3x5 but it’s flowering footprint is more like 3x2 as it seems from what’s on HLGs website…

The 300L Rspec will flower up to a 3x3 supposedly according the website again…3C7158D1-878D-4FFB-989B-8192EFD1FFBD.png
I was under the impression you want 30-50 watts per square ft for LED so I would even go up to a 350R possibly to put you at about 41 watts a sq ft and you can always dim it down as needed as it will flower up to a 3x5 they claim
