Anime your top ten favorites

Thanks, Jeff (as always!) - Samurai 7 is GO!

I can tell you’ve been mining the Prime stuff…Kokkoku is another I’ve been on the fence with, so onto the list it goes, and thanks! Vinland Saga, as well…just heard too much good stuff about it.

Nice to see someone mention Bahamut: Virgin Soul…*SO* much to like about it! Haven’t been able to get into the first sequence, Genesis, tho. If you haven’t watched Grimoire of Zero, give it a try…. Gurren Lagaan is a ton of wild fun, too. Made in Abyss is *not* fun - but is very good.

Glad to have you here, Quarts…! You inspire me to start winnowing a few Top 10 lists…lots of good stuff on Netflix, too: Last Hope, Beastars (haven’t caught season 2 yet)…okay, lists….
Bingo on the Prime. It was the only streaming account I had for a minute. And thanks to Amazon Prime I was introduced to anime. I'm on the same boat with you in regards to Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis. In regards to Grimoire of Zero. I have started it, enjoyed it, but have not finished it yet. What I've been enjoying is youtube reactions to Inuyashiki and Dororo. I'm a nerd like that...lol.

Much the same with me, but I was hooked up with Netflix long ago, even before I started even *looking* at the Prime video offerings. I was an “I like some anime, I just don’t (know what to) watch” guy, until some co-workers steered me toward Gurren Lagaan & SAO; before that, I’d seen some of the ancient chestnuts (Akira, GitS, Evangelion…), and some Miyazaki (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away)…AFTER watching GL and 2 seasons of SAO I started watching every anime I could find, and THAT was all on Netflix…and when I ran out I got the bright idea of checking Prime (then my roomies got Hulu, and the monster grew even larger - and then I got VRV…).

At this point, I’ve seen so much / so many that I can’t remember all the names or all the stories…but they’re all still there in me, and they guide me toward what I like, without me being really aware of it happening.

Still working on those Top 10 lists, Jeff….

In Other News…Sonny Boy turned out to be disappointing: not bad, intriguing…but confusing, overly mental, kinda sophomoric; left a lot on the table when it wrapped after 12 episodes. No real story, very arty/exposition-heavy … sort of a zen/Taoist ‘nothing-going-on’ piece, but YMMV.

I sometimes get caught up in the show comments on VRV…which make YT comments seem sober & scholarly…. I was looking at comments on a series I was unfamiliar with, “I’m Standing On A Million Lives”, and they were 99% violent, antisocial, toxic…so I had to start watching it, just to see…turns out to be a kind of ReLife isekai - learning about choices, consequences, responsibilities…not great, but certainly not awful either…but, I can see why a spoiled little edgelord-in-training wouldn’t like it

TL;DR = I try to stay away from comments about things I like (or know something about)…except for cooking shows

Grimoire of Zero will probably never see a second season, which is a shame - I love the characters and would love to see them explore their world; probably the first time I realized an anime I liked wouldn’t be continued.

So, now that the new season has been out for a while, what shows are you guys watching? Not the best season for sure, but the excellent Mushoku Tensei is back, as is a personal fave: World Trigger. Blue Period and Saihate no Paladin are both new shows worth watching. Blue Period sort of follows a typical Sports anime format but is all about Art. Platinum End is decent, has sort of a death note vibe. BUT by far the best new show out is Ousama Ranking, this show is an instant classic with a wide appeal once you get used to its peculiarities. Any of you guys watching these?

my favorite hentai was fooly cooly. does anyone remember that show? it was only a few episodes long. one time i went to this dudes trailer and he had actual hentai dvds sitting on the floor full of old weed trim and they were really dusty. he was a tweaker that lived in the middle of no where.

The shows that are really holding my interest are World’s Finest Assassin, Demon Slayer, and takt-Op: Destiny. Platinum End has fallen off for me, and I’m waiting to binge-watch 86 & Faraway Paladin. I’ve been watching World Trigger for some 100 episodes and I’m still waiting for something to happen: so far, it’s mostly just endless rounds of ranking tournaments. I keep following it, but I’m not holding out hope that it’ll get somewhere. Fruit of Evolution continues to really funny in a light-hearted, good, clean ‘naughty’ fun kinda way. I’m in the middle of a show from a couple years ago, too: Boogiepop…and once again, I found a show that goes far beyond what I could have expected. beautiful and fascinating.

Garden of Sinners has made it onto my list, and I just found Komi Can’t Communicate on Netflix

I remember FLCL real well…but I don’t get why you call it “hentai”. There are a couple of revisits out there, too: FLCL Progressive and FLCL Alternative, each is 6 episodes long

Worlds Finest Assassin is good, finally caught up with the episodes waiting on new ones to drop

I'm also waiting for Demos Slayer Season 2 to come out.

Lately i've been watching "Is it wrong to pick up girls in a Dungeon" and it's not bad

currently i've been wondering which is better Crunchyroll or Funimation?

Demon Slayer "entertainment district" arc is airing now, on Saturdays I think? I'm not sure if it's considered season 2....Did you see the Mugen train arc? That was in movie form, but also aired last season as episodes. I think Mugen train + Entertainment district is season 2.
