First time growing. I keep reading how plants can double in size when flowering begins, but this is getting ridiculous. Flowers are just starting to form, no way this thing doubles, right? She's at 8 ft 4 inches now. I assume it's too late to top them once flowering starts.

You are doing better than you thought you would aren't ya?lol just supercrop the top couple of feet or put a tie on near the top and bend them over.. It will make side branches grow out more and make the plants wider instead of much taller.
Also spray with antifungal like potassium bicarbonate now. You will regret it if you dont.
Good luck friend!

I have an 8 footer too, she's scraggly compared to that one, but the main cola on the tip 6" or so is beginning to flower, so I should NOT crop it, right? I have a stunted one I brought back to life and once she is strong n healthy I'm gonna LST her bc I want to try and bush her out. These photos must not have good genetics bc they really are sparse. Nearly every branch has a terminal bud blooming but not much foliage. .
