Just been watching some documentaries again on 60s acid culture. Was wondering if there’s anyone with some cool stories from this time! Also douse the LSD that Ken Kesey and the merry pranksters took still exist?
Ken died in the 2001 but his son Zane Casey has been going around the country with a replica of the original Furthur bus since at least before the GD 50 shows; the pranksters sell blotter paper and psychedelic memorabilia but nothing with any actual LSD on it. They charter the bus for parties and tour around raising money to restore the original furthur bus which was abandoned but recovered; needs a lot of work apparently. The crew is prankster family; they exist mostly on people’s kindness and hospitality. Sleeping in back yards and bus parties. There is a whole subset of crazy bus people who drive around looking for other crazy bus people to hang out with on their bus and get crazy. Go figure.
Rumors swirled at the time that students of Bear still had some of his original LSD crystals stored in deep freeze. They were supposedly instructed by Bear himself to distribute it among the those in the know if a 50 yr anniversary tour was to happen. Hope you had a chance to get on the bus; I know I did.
Are you shiting me.....I read that book back in 10th grade..........that was the life, if ya could swing it.......I needed money, wasn't tripping and f'ing off till I got a job in a physics lab.....could afford "head".......afford Bose 901's......my own place....my own grow room..,yada-yada.....Best way to approach is as follows, no shit..........I have a close dear friend, who knows me very well.....,.he checks out the acid, reports back............" yer gonna love ii....."..or not for you "................Also watch what ya mix it with.....everybody's different.............I Cheeched and Chonged-out on a bong once while on a wonderful trip and everything went sideways, scary.......didn't bother my pals. Anyway.........nowadays, and for ever, I advocate real hash and a mushroom pairing.......of course lots of cold beer and tunes and nicotine, in some form.Just been watching some documentaries again on 60s acid culture. What state are you talking about? LBMs growing on shit in the wrong climate zone will just give you diarrhea. eg-the Midwest. Don’t eat those unless you’re constipated.Just look for some horseshit, no shit........their little things, brown...do your homework.........they are considered mild, so feel free to gobble them up, then again I don't know you........
I haven’t read that. I’ll look it up. He gave me copy of Demon Box at that NYE party night along Hatter’s leather top hat. Demon Box was hard for me to get into. Interesting but took time like reading through Food of the Gods.Enjoyed a lot of the books from Kesey and wound up sending Babs an email back in 2017. To my surprise he replied to me. I'll include what he said here as it's not personal; it was just me saying "hello" and asking about his books so I could find them.
thanks for the nice email. Yes, I have a book out, Who Shot
The Water Buffalo, a novel about a Marine Corps helicopter squadron
in Vietnam in 62-63. There is a facebook page called Who Shot The
Water Buffalo and also a lot about the book at
.
Kesey and I also worked together on a novel called Last Go Round,
takes place at the Pendleton Roundup in 1911. It's a real good read.
Demon Box is a bit weird but Kesey gets into "characters" sometimes and I can't relate to them all. The stuff about Cassidy being the demon in the box was cool. Lots of speed = perpetual motion. Well maybe not perpetual but extra ordinary.I haven’t read that. I’ll look it up. He gave me copy of Demon Box at that NYE party night along Hatter’s leather top hat.
