AIRY BUDS... WHY?

Setup:

1. DWC - 27 gal tote
2. Autoflower Cannabis
3. Micro, Bloom, Grow
-slowly increasing as plants mature
-full strength approx 8ml per gal
-I believe directions say approx 16 ml per gal
-I was advised to use half strength
4. PH has never been an issue using this product. I've always been able to easily get it under control within the 6.0 - 7.0 range.
5. This was my 1st ALL DWC run.
6. Tent temp NO greater than 78 deg...normally temp in the 73 - 75 deg range (so not bad)!
7. Lights - x2 LED 1000 watt (vander, Elaine)

Ok...both plants started out like gangbusters in the vegetative state! in fact the entire way through they appeared to grow like weeds... hahaha! After about 4 weeks of veg I could see the pre-flowering stage beginning on both plants. Buds began to swell up quite nicely and after the end of the 11th week they were ready to be harvested. Super fast growth...I really couldn't believe how fast they grew in dwc.

Here's the problem though...

While I was able to get pretty good quantity of Bud from each plant (approx 7.5 oz total for both plants combined)...

The buds were very AIRY (not tight at all).

Trouble shooting says airy bud caused by one of x3 things...

Tent temp too high
Lights improperly hung
Nutrients.

I've used this product many times in dirt and never had airy buds like this before. Do you have any suggestions that may help from the nutrient standpoint? I understand your product has nothing to do with the temperature of my tent or the quality of my lights.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If the 3rd pic is already harvested, than you did it before they even started to rippen. So you had like 5 more weeks.

Going.by the 3rd pic the plant was not even close to being ready for harvest. That is likely a big culprit
Gotcha...these plans got so big so fast that they couldn't even hold themselves up at week 12. Branches got so heavy they started to fall over...I tried my damnedest to get them all tied up but it was just too much weight. This was definitely an experiment from some bag seeds that I had. I think I will employ SOG on next attempt to try and give the branches some extra support. I did check tricoms and they were all mostly a milky white. You are correct in that I did not see a lot of red in my tricomes. if I was able to make it another few weeks are you certain of my buds would have tightened up? Thanks for all the feedback brother!

No worries. Yes, the last couple weeks they bulk up a ton so that would have defiantly helped. What light are you using? A healthy plant should be able to support some pretty big buds.

Nice...are you in soil or hydro... can't tell. Anyway... Here's a couple pictures of my setup. Just got done making a bunch of bubble hash so everything's still in the tent. I have two different LED lights that are running about a thousand watts each. Not too sure about the specs though. Last pick is Gold Leaf I did in soil.

Your PH range is way too hi. Hydro needs to be in the 5.5-6 range. Maybe 6.1 max, but the average should be more like 5.8.

I also agree it looks like you harvested too soon. You should get a macro lens for your phone or a USB scope or something that will let you get a close look at the trichs. Most people like the trichs to be almost all cloudy/milky with at least 10% being amber. Thats a much more reliable way to tell when they are ready.

Its a good idea to check several places on the plant. Its not unusual for the top buds to ripen first. Its ok to do a staggered harvest in that case.
