The best carbon filters for tent?

So I have an (I believe it was an ipower carbon filter I can’t say for sure,) but I want to make sure the scent of my grow is COMPLETELY removed. I’ll spend some extra cash to make this happen.

I was thinking about getting two filter for my tent if necessar.y. I don’t really have any option to vent it outside. Any suggestions would be great guys, thank you.

Phresh filters are pretty well liked by veteran growers on here. I would go with that.

I goofed. I had a phresh I remember the mark on the silver part. My bad totally forgot!!
I should’ve looked it up but wanted an opinion on this because it’s a crucial part for me.

I remember can as well. I got my brands all mixed up. I randomly got a new living arrangmentn that allows for growing and throwing a grow together.
Between trying to build an LED and get everything together, help like this means a lot. Thank you.

How many CFLs do I need for a 4x8 tent?

Phat or Phresh is all I will use. I have some going on 8 years of operation and they still do the job. I was amazed when they passed 3 years.

Dude, thats just not how to setup a 4x8 tent. CFL is very much entry level lighting and just isn't the way to go.

Toss a couple 1000 watt SE HPS lights in there and you can pull 4+ pounds if you do your job right.

If you have the money then LED becomes an option but it will cost a lot more than HPS.

I was kidding bc the above poster asked if I was trolling since I’ve been on RIU for like 5 years.
I can’t recall if the smell was 100% unnoticeable? I’m in somewhat of an iffy situation for a few months but the grow must go on.

I was in the process of DIY LED and I even made a post about it but I’m not sure if it’s worth it. HPS draw a decent amount of power, but I know they work well and pack the pounds.
Never heard of SE HPS so I’ll check that out!!

Single Ended HPS - the old school way. You can get the lights cheap and they are each perfectly suited to a 4x4 area. DE's are just too much for a tent really.

LED can be great as well provided you have a good one (not a blurple) and you dial the grow temperatures up into the mid 80's to compensate for the lack of infrared spectrum. In flowering 30 - 35 watts per sqft with quality LED is all you need. With HPS you are talking more like 50 - 60.

I didn’t realize the watts per sqft was a standard, huge help. I was using, and was debating on buying, the 600W Hortilux HPS bulbs. Is there benefit to using those?

Have you found a solid place to order the activated carbon for refills?

That's something I never wanted to mess with personally. I don't think you can ever pack them as good as the factory, they use a vibratory system that shakes the housing as the carbon is added and packed. I suppose you could do it but wow it will be a messy process. My filters are also pretty large (12" duct x 48" tall), it would be easier with a smaller one I suppose.

A big thing is cleaning the sock prefilter. Never eliminate it or dust will clog your carbon. I just use a shopvac to suck the outsides of my sock lol. I am afraid it wouldn't survive a wash plus I would have to take the fans off to slip the sock off. These filters are like a hundred pounds or something. lol

35 watts as sent from the driver to the chips is the high end if you have good chips IMO. Generally thats like 98%+ efficiency at the driver. So if you have a 4x4 area then a light that draws about 560 watts would really rock that space. More chips driven softer is always best for efficiency and spread plus if you have a COB or strip fail the others can handle the added current without them all blowing. LM301B or H chips are pretty much the king right now. You definitely want dimming because you won't need the full wattage in veg. When designing or buying a LED it's important to know the distance you will be operating the light from the canopy, if height restrictions are in play you don't want a light that needs to be 30 inches away from the plants when you could build one that can be much closer. The Fluence Spydr 2i it's like 6 inches from canopy where a HLG 550 it's like 28 - 30 inches, each has it's ups and downs, gotta raise the 6" light more often. You can see that when you shop for lights, some are designed to be operated much closer than others. The guys in the LED section can really help you figure out the DIY as I am sure you probably already know. lol
