Hmmm I notice they still grow just much more slowly. What I'm looking for is mature trichomes tho. I'd rather they be matured as possible vs just having big pre mature buds.
It's been cold as shit here and it's been since sunday that i seen them and the buds doubled in size. Maybe because the manure keeps my roots warm?
Way to stay calm and persistent in the face of the weather challenges. Under your capable care I'm betting those plants will finish out fine.

We're getting another day of drizzle here after a much-welcome dryout yesterday. Supposed to dry off again this weekend so I'll be taking a good look at the trichs on that Tomahawk. What specifically do you look for in yours? All cloudy with a few amber?

Curious about one other thing...I followed your lead and didn't try to cover my plants from rain--I think you said something about maximizing airflow. Makes sense to me. Do you ever have rot issues? At this point I'm finding a small bit almost daily but just on one particular plant (the Orange Blossom Special).

The thing to remember is some strains are prone to it ...and it doesn't matter what you do it will happen.
And I probably end up with about a total of an oz or under with rot every yr. Back before I was proactive that is another story entirely.

I usually go for all cloudy with about 5% to 10% amber, but as long as they are all cloudy on the calyx (not the leaf) then I'm in the window. I just want the best high possible.

That will keep you busy for a minute or two. What is that? 10' from the soil? Nice.

Exploiting my new plastic bag, greenhouse, with $10/day for heat. Most are coming down around me this weekend. It is chitty here with a capital S. Looking forward to next year there. Thanks for the reading. Peace.
I've looked into greenhouses but just wont do it until I have my very own land. I'm so happy you have one tho! Gojng to be 28 thr next two nights.

Sight laws, 80 something crc pastor behind me and a suggestion from the local police forced mine on me mid grow. Big mistake. 110% humidity and no airflow. Got it figured out and working now. Saved my crop. Just need to make up for the stress period. Hoping for a nice indian summer in a couple weeks to really finish. A bit short still.

I'll compare notes with you if don't mind.

Hope you grew some veggies to counter the hunger you are to induce. Peace.

Ouch! Well at least it all got worked out. I'm praying for an Indian summer myself. PRAYING HARD! One of my biggest mistakes that I made this yr without even thinking was I watered from the hose the whole time. My well water comes out like ice and didnt even give it a seconds thought. My garden I watered by hand ... I only have 2 strains at my second garden but the buds are twice the size as the other one. It was such a blond moment. Like duh the soil has to be warm too....
I've always watered by hand or filled a big container so the water was always warm.
Well lesson learned.
Haha I didnt grow any veggies this yr... didnt have time but I bought lots of then today at the organic store. I'm set for nutrition for this weekends chop

Interesting. You mean during the warm summer months the cold water shocked the roots? Or you mean during the cold this fall your watering didn't help to keep the soil warm? Just taking notes for my own methods next year.

Raining again right now here but we don't seem to be getting the cold temps. you're seeing. Soon enough...although I'm still thinking we've got an Indian Summer just around the corner.

Congrats. on reaching the finish line with one of them tomorrow. Post some pics.

I just checked my Tomahawk today and still not seeing a single amber trich. Wonder if it needs another week. Greenpoint!

Well they seemed to grow fine in the summer months but once it turned cold then I should not have used ice cold water. It's been raining here almost every day for 2 weeks... no problems yet.

On super hot days I've watered with cold water. Figure if I'd want my feet in some cool water I'm sure my plants would also. I do it with all plants in the garden. It was an unusually hot summer here and the plants loved it.

Maybe the lesson from GG is when night-time temps. start dropping in the fall you should draw water out of the well a few days before and let it "warm up" to air temperature before watering the plants with it. Or even let it sit in the sun a bit before watering.

What did you do for rootzone insulation this fall? Warm compost every so often followed by a bed of leaves?

That's big. You don't need to use all the hoops.....and if not needed it's a lot to heat in early spring and late fall. I personally had a 12x24 and I could use more but we have had some monsters in the family and they are beasts. Nice to pull you truck in on a cold day to work on though.

I added a few inches to the roots of extra compost on top of the hay... and then added several layers of leaves.
Like I said the incredible bulk and the lemon crash og is almost twice the size of the garden I've been using with the hose. Everything else is exactly the same.
I have a 50 gallon water container that I fill up and it stays fairly warm.
Now I have to fill up 5 gallon buckets half full then fill up the rest with the water from the hose. It is fairly warm but not hot. A lot more work but it seems to be helping
