Yeah you don’t need tons of run off.

Your probably right. I can be heavy-handed

Let it dry out all the way stick your finger in the dirt about an inch if you can feel moisture than you don’t need to water. You can also lift the pots if they feel heavy you can not water if it feels really light then water. That will help.
