My experiences with Topping vs. LST interesting results

I had 8 plants growin nice and healty and i decied to top 4 of them and LST the rest. Here are the results:

Topped
1 male
3 hermies

LST
All Female!!!


I think this is pretty clear that Topping a plant can cause unnecessary stress when LST has the same benefits.

I call that bad luck.
I always top never had luck like that.
I grew about 10-12 new seeds this year topped half and only got one male.

I just LST'd 9 total. 5 turned out male and 1 was a hermie.

that has nothing to do with the sex or i would have grown males exclusively for years LST and topping is great to control the grow if plants but not a method to switch or determine the sex of a plant

There is a lot of males and hermies coming from seed banks these days.
I think it is from over breeding or bad parents.
I was thinking about trying JOEYS but I guess they are just like the rest.

the exept for a few hermies the plants all grew big and healthy and are pretty easy 2 grow - they ship to the US, fast and are very reliable. i wud definately reccoment Joey's

my only plant i topped was a female and i tied it down too, i topped it when it was a seedling and now it looks like this

small but damn good looking plant you got there, and i guess it proves my point by showing that not only me can grow females using this methods

its the seed not the method that gives you a sea of hermies and males

i think you may be a bit off about lsting producing more females but you are correct in saying topping puts more stress on a plant then lsting.

In my humble opinion, and with some experience, I think topping is safe if done to a very young plant or sprout. Topping to a mature plants cause mucho stress and hermis or males.

look at it this way, when it grows you want to give it as stress free life so it can put all of its power towards growing buds in flowering, so why stress it and wait when you can bend it and have as many main colas as you can instead of waiting 4 days of recovery for 2 new buds?

Lst is low stress training u train ur plants to grow bushier opposed to taller

Thank you for chiming in...you are correct! LST and topping have nothing to do with determining the sex of your plant unless there are abnormal stressful situations that are influencing the plant like topping it way too early.

I personally have never had this happened not once and I top my plant possibly 8-10 times per plant so not too sure what's happening to this guy's plants.

You said u top the 8-10 tims per plant? just so we are on the same page how do I top a plant and what will happen when I do?
