mycorrhizae mold on surface ? Or just mold?

Was looking at my young plants , noticed some green algae on a few of the pete pellets .

Looking closer, noticed white spots on the surfaces and mesh. I’m new to mycorrhizae, I understand it covers the roots, but what about the surface? I sprinkle mycorrhizae in each hole before planting and during transition to the solo cups.

It doesn’t look like white mold that I’ve seen before. But I did just come back from 3 years off.

Plants look fine otherwise, minus low ppm rust spots from transitioning from well water.

Arbuscula soil fungi probably, soil is home to a lot of fungi and stuff. Harmless.

yeah it's mold. you get it on the top of the medium if your humidity is high..be fine...

You mean it’ll be fine ? Cause I’m transferring em this weekend, so was debating on pulling apart as much of jiffy pellet as possible.

You’re close. The bigger ones are 2 weeks old Friday. This weekend they’re getting transferred. It’s why I was asking bout the mold, was going to pull apart the pellets during transfer if its bad.

Its just a harmless organism of the peat pellet or spore from the air that settled there. Fungi mold left over thermophile even something in a different family. You add water and heat to organic matter and it becomes prime real estate for such stuff which is where the mycorrhazia stuff comes from.

You can eliminate it but a lot just live with it or run different irrigation cycles and it soon dissapears.

If it was bad and your plant ilunhealthy you would see plants start to die off but healthy plants outgrow and defend off most stuff with ease.

Yeah thanks, 6 years of growing with jiffy’s and never had this issue. Only thing different in my germination set up is the mycorrhizae.

Maybe it was a multi species product and thats one of them, more likely something else feasting on them. Sterile stuff can breed stuff that is later wiped out by other stuff and a load of other stuff im not really specialized in so more just guesswork and seeen enough to ignore most.

I’m using Great White. Now that you mention it, says 14 different species, so you’re probably right...
