Lit farms and Solfire info?

My take, Cap said he doesn't care that they used his Mac genetics but litfarms said it was from 8 Mac males and accidental pollination on his females, which I find is BS because he also says since his SD reversal failed, it wasn't a accident it's a money grab. So he decided to sell them at full price no testing just using Caps Mac fame to pocket as much as possible off somebody else's work.

Exactly. Some folks are missing the point. I mean, fine, custies are there to get custied I get that. If people who should know better are willing to shell out that cash on untested, hype riding, money grabs, they deserve whatever they get. Be it a stunning keeper for their gamble, or three packs of straight trash.

BUT, there's nothing wrong with people calling a spade a spade and warning people who do at least a little research before whipping that wallet out. Archive has had some shit practices (scooby snacks anyone?), but that doesn't mean thadocta is wrong here.

Money grabbing, hype riding, no testing, unethical, pollen chuckers calling themselves "breeders" and charging premiums without doing real work are just as parasitic to this community/industry as all of the big money people who didn't risk their freedom out of love to be involved.

Bad practices being normalized and allowed is the reason the seed business finds itself in this state. Fuck hype, support work.

IG is FULL of crybabies. Its a full on whine fest of misery, entitlement, and suck ups.

I wonder if florist argue and have the same drama as seed makers and growers.

I mean...when you think about it, we are talking about flowers here,

Oh jeezus. I just clicked on that link. Saw the author. Closed the page.

Whats the point in reading through hundreds of comments of the same shit. "Breeders" threatened by new "breeders". Assholes chiming in to call anyone who disagrees "Johnny Come Lately" and maybe one or two comments that hold some common sense.
Pass..
It's crazy, like it's some big hug joy community, when it's really a bunch of ex drugies(hard drugs) drunks & a few true pot heads..with a bunch of new smokers.

People will buy what they want,at the end of the day

First, you should read what’s in the image, because it’s not from thadocta, it’s a screenshot of a lit farms post. I can’t stand thadocta either, but this is a point I agree with him.

So, do you think it’s ok for someone to “select” a male from a single pack, cross it to every female clone he can get his hands on, and then sell those packs for $150? If you’re paying premium prices for packs, it should come with the expectation that some work actually went into the male selection and the pairing. Anyone chucking at home and trading seeds, that doesn’t matter. That’s all for the love of cannabis. But $150 packs? That’s not love. It’s pure greed capitalizing on someone entirely on someone else’s work.

I know many people have done a lot of pollen chucking on here, which is awesome. But how many would have the gall to do their little chucks at home, and then sell them for $15/seed? There’s honestly a problem with our not so little industry that a small operation that nobody’s heard of can list a bunch of strains with “MAC” or “Zkittlez” in them, and people with spend $150 on them.
Well, yeah...I guess I do think its OK. You know why? Because I believe adults are free to do whatever the fuck they want so long as they're not causing physical or emotional harm to anyone else. And no, I don't qualify upsetting the competition as emotional harm.

That dude can chuck pollen from here to Siberia for all I care. He's free to make seeds and charge 2000 bucks a pack or he can take them to the nearest park and feed the damn birds.

Is it greedy. Or course it is. This "industry" is full of imbecile running around trying to cash in. New breeders popping up everywhere and old breeders letting the world know how threatened they are. Of course they use the "unspoken bro code" as some sort of fallacious appeal to validate their crybaby rants.
And as the quick money flows in the egos take over. Its one of those phenomenon's I find pathetically comical.

Would I fall for that nonsense and buy seeds from some relatively unknown breeder with little to no transparency or credibly? Hell no!

I'm guilty of the occasional impulse buy but for the most part I try to take some responsibility and do my homework.
If I can get the genetics I'm looking for from the source, that's the route I'll always take (regardless if they're $40 or $400)

Point being...in the grand scheme of things the "breeder drama" is about a trivial as it gets.
People need to vote with their wallets. Use the same simple logic they would when purchasing any product.

FTR, I know my opinion on this isn't in line with many but it is what it is.

What’s wrong with the Scooby’s?
Maybe not the best example but it was the first to come to mind. It's a name issue that felt pretty deliberate.

One eye bred Scooby Snacks around Portland by crossing Forum Cut and his Dogwalker OG (a PNW staple). Scooby Snacks was already established and highly sought in the PNW (where Archive is based) before thadocta started calling PlatGSC x Face/Off by the same name, and thedocta has used Dogwalker in stuff he's released, so it seems pretty unlikely that he was totally unaware of One Eye, or that he had a strain blowing up called Scooby Snacks.

Definitely could be a mix up, but it seems more like trying to ride someone else's wave. Both GSC x OG (not uncommon), both in the same city/region, but one was already WELL KNOWN locally. And for a dude like thadocta who has such a comprehensive strain knowledge, saying you didn't know about something that popular, that close to home, just seems suspect.

I get what you’re saying and I agree with you, for the most part.

When thadocta goes on his rants on IP and branding, he’s being a fucking idiot. A cross isn’t intellectual property. The first person to breed a Labrador and a Poodle and call it a Labradoodle doesn’t suddenly own the rights to that type of dog. Perfectly relevant example that doesn’t include the “if this industry wasn’t illegal we’d be in court” bullshit. A strain is also not a brand or a trademark.

However, that doesn’t mean when someone selects a male from a single pack, chucks it onto whatever clones he can get, and sells them untested for a premium doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get his name dragged through the mud.

I’m not saying Lit Farms shouldn’t be able to do what he’s doing. Clearly he can. There’s nothing to stop him. But there’s also no reason why anyone shouldn’t call him a shit breeder for it.

In fact, I would say it’s our responsibility as the more informed, less naive, and knowledgeable people to call out fly by night operations like this.

I agree on all points too. I just have a hard time taking anything on IG seriously. Breeders indulge the drama surrounding "their work" because it does in fact create even more hype. Then other people inject themselves and it becomes one big unstoppable fuckbox of dumb.
Maybe this is why I like the forums. There's drama but the reviews of new and old breeders seems to be a bit more genuine.

I read the owner of Lit Farms state that he'd "one day tell his breeding story" and thought..."why not now"??
A little humility, transparency and professionalism would go far in this bizz

He did, “in a nutshell”, share his “story” in that very post...

He said that he had to start “breeding because he couldn’t get “quality seeds” from anywhere else (which, right off the bat, tells me he doesn’t know what he’s doing/what the fuck he’s talking about). Then he said he doesn’t have time to do any actual breeding because he has too many businesses to run/employees to oversee, so shitty beans they be.

This guy is an idiot and completely full of shit.

Yo, it's not his fault. He's got three businesses with 70 employees to worry about, so he doesn't have time to test his trash chucks.

What's really sad is that custies who don't know better are still going to buy every last pack at full price because of the strain names in the pack, and it's just gonna encourage him to keep pulling this bullshit.

IG is the only social media platform I use, but this is why I hate it. So much uninformed trash based in hype alone keeps alive. All of the forums have/do have their pitfalls, and tons of truly terrible information (along with tons of incredible information) but I feel like they at least kept people more informed and there was less hypebeast mentality before the IG migration.

So don't buy them ?

Why are you mad about the price ? plenty of dudes selling cheap seeds ... plenty .. go buy those. If you want the seeds they have .. and dont want to pay that price .. well then .. tuff ? Oh these seeds are so expensive .. why are they charging so much ...

{Hey bro you sell me a QP for 125$ ? Wait ? Why not ? Dude all you did was stick that plant in the ground and grow it .. no way is that shit worth more than that ... }

See it works all ways ...

I understand the skepticism behind the breeding practices in the earlier posts but it seems like he’s putting work into some the newer of watermelon and Melanade crosses.

One pheno has some purple in it, that one is more on the piney side with some spice. They all had extreme vigor, grew like straight champions, even when root bound.

There’s one green pheno that is more lemon than watermelon smells a bit like sweat? then the last green is like watermelon rubber? Haha.

All are fire beyond belief. There’s a reason he crossed “Fleetwood Mac” to everything and it’s mother, it is a magical strain. Takes the superheady Melonade and makes it a one hitter quitter with some Mac spice.

Sorry, I know it's an old thread, but I've been trying to find info on that "Fleetwood Mac" strain they have crossed with some strains but I can't find anything. Is that a Mac male? or is it crossed with something? thanks guys
