Good morning op...yes that's true.
Soil grown likes a ph anywhere from 6.3 to 6.8...if feeding mix nutrients and shoot for a ph of around 6.5 or so, then allow your medium to dry to approximately 80% of its weight prior to watering...the lift method works great. This will allow a natural ph swing as the medium dries out, allowing full nutrient spectrum take up by the roots, as well as allowing oxygen to reach them.
