Let's say I have a 5-1-0 and a 1-4-7, i want to get an a different ratio but am too cheap to go buy another fertilizer. What do I do? Mix the two.

I'll start by using 60% of 5-1-0 and 40% 1-4-7.

Take .6 x 5-1-0 = 3 - 0.6 - 0
Take 0.4 x 1-4-7 = 0.4 - 1.6 - 2.8

Add the two together gives you 3.4 - 2.2 - 2.8 for the resulting NPK

How about 10% 5-1-0 and 90% 1-4-7

0.1x 5-1-0 = 0.5 - 0.1 - 0
0.9 x 1-4-7 = 0.9 - 3.6 - 6.3

Sum is 1.4 - 3.7 - 6.3 is the resulting NPK

I'm not a hydro guy, this is for dry amendments. I dont check runoff or use liquid nutes so I am not sure his spreadsheet would apply, I'd have to download it to check it out. There are times where you can't use ratios to figure it out, this applies if the nutrients are coming from different compounds then your better off using the actual percentage or meq to figure that out.

Your math looks good to me, and I actually have a math degree and tutored math in college, lol. This kinda shit is fun for me, hahaha.

Yeah you could say that I like math too, lol, in university I got 99% on my calculus midterm years ago.

I currently have a spreadsheet on the go for making soil recipes from different online soil articles and working with an agronomist to verify. It's interesting the ideal ratios between certain elements, while others are not so important. All math, all the time, nerding right out and lovin it.

A little chemistry and biology come in handy too for growing weed, and that shit interests me also.

You bet, It's never ending the rabbit holes one can go down. I like your style, putting it all together......creating a microcosm. I like biology and math but the chemistry is pretty rusty. There's a reason I lug all my old notes around all these years, you just never know when it comes in handy.
