The hack who wrote this said rural suicide rates were worse than non rural homicide rates, which is obviously wrong based on the charts that he uses
Then he kept saying “it’s not the guns!”
But the only way to explain our high suicide and homicide rates is because guns are so easy to get

There will be more people so there is little chance it will be less. The hateful racist agenda of Trump/Putin is likely increasing it.
But that 'article' is such bullshit theorizing to create a 'urban' myth.
In the country, I get into my car, drive into town, go into the store, and don't really interact with anyone until I get to where I am going.
In the city I walk out my door to the store and am very likely interact with the several people who live around the area as I walk.
Those increased interactions, lead to a higher chance of negative interactions, and with the same ability to have a gun, the increased likelihood of a gun related incident. Top if off that our government created ghettoes in these urban areas from decades of red lining and legal job discrimination there is a huge economic issue here too.
I bet if they teased out of the data just trailer parks vs the rest of rural areas their heat maps would look a lot different. But the white guys who like to cherry pick these stats for some reason don't seem worried about actually doing anything but painting minority communities as dangerous.
