Deformed new growth after topping

Hi!
My plant is growing very strange leaves after being topped
The growth is fast but the new growth has considerably less serrations on their edges

It's like the leaves are juvenile and were supposed to be tiny but got stretched out and ended up looking like lettuce
even though the first two leaf sets this plant produced had tighter serration... So it looks even less mature than the first leaves grown by the plant.

Do any of you know of an issue that makes the new growth looks bloated and more loosely serrated?

The two main potential causes I see are ph as I don't have a ph pen and n toxicity as the older growth is a bit shiny and dark.

but I googled the hell out of my problem and didn't find anything conclusive so I hope somebody here will be able to identify my issue!
Thanks!

thanks!
I calibrated my pen and I flushed it with 6.2 ajusted water.
I'll see how it improves from now on.

I gos sooo bummed to see those hideous leaves pop up when all the others looked so DAMN perfect... :|
At least, it's good that it's not genetic and it will go back to normal at some point

Don't worry, she will come out of it, usually when that happens only the first set of leaves after the topping do that. And as for why that happens, I don't know, but I kind think its because of a hormone issue, where the secondary nodes are overloaded with hormones because the hormones that where slated for the main stem you topped get shifted to the secondary off-branch nodes. Yeah, I have had that happen lots of times, the last time the first set of leaves on the side branches where I topped looked like weird sensimilla leaves, (they had rounded ends), but like said, they always come out of it on the next node up!

Yeah I was under the same impression!
It's like those leaves were NEVER supposed to get that big so quickly and got stretched and deformed by the abundance of growth hormone.
The serrations are like three time as wide as the leaves just under.
Thanks for your input and help!
