New Zealand's government has agreed to reform the country's gun laws in 10 days in the wake of last Friday's massacre at two mosques, in which 50 people were killed, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has confirmed.

Ardern said that the "worst act of terrorism on our shores" had exposed a range of weaknesses in New Zealand's gun laws.

Speaking after her weekly Cabinet meeting Monday, Ardern told reporters that ministers had agreed to reform gun laws.

"Within 10 days of this horrific act of terrorism we will have announced reforms which will, I believe, make our community safer," she said.

Now that's the way the US should react to a mass shooting, to take concrete steps rapidly, in days, not months or years.

But nope, in this country we're stuck with some ineffective mumbling in our Congress that changes nothing.

When will the US wake up to the fact that military style weapons have no place in todays society, that there are simply too many fucking mentally deranged individuals in this country to allow them.

Just in case you forgot, here's a link listing the mass shootings in this country since 1984 - 2017, leaving out the 17 murdered in Florida's Marjorie Stoneman High School in 2018.

Nice list huh?

Fuck the NRA, and any politician that accepts bribes from them.

Enough is enough.

you know when congress will do something? when some fucknut gets into the capitol building and shoots a few of them...they don't care if kids get shot in school, they don't care if workers get killed by former co workers, they don't care if disturbed psychos fire wildly into crowds of innocent people....but you kill a few of them, and they'll start to see the urgency of the situation....of course, it probably won't happen...they have guards for themselves...but not for kids in schools...

I'm not from the US. And have nothing against the US. But from dandyrandys post, and correct me if I'm wrong here, But does that show the mentality of the US society? A little undevided? Maybe that's where things need to start? Everyone seems a little paranoid about their fellow countryman. "What if a civil war breaks out?" "We need to defend ourselves against OUR government if the time arises?" "If I'm carrying a gun then that guy will be less likely to shoot at me cause i can shoot back"

whats your point?
illustrating the "u.s. mentality" isn't a point. "a little undivided" ? means what? you pointed out several problems, and made no real observations or suggestions....

Just a thought from someone from the outside looking in.
what thought?

The second amendment and the quantity of guns already in distribution in the US will make it difficult for any significant gun reform to take place here. Also, criminals are known to not follow laws. This is regrettable.

we need to get rid of gun lobbyist, and assault weapons, period. the only people who should be assaulting anyone should be wearing uniforms, and badges. there is no reason for citizens to need assault weapons, because there is no reason for citizens to be assaulting objectives. no one needs an automatic weapon. no one needs a bump stock. no one needs high volume magazines or armor piercing rounds...every bit of that is paranoia and fear manifesting itself...
we need a government that isn't a bunch of money grubbing lying fucking assholes. we need a government that will protect it's citizens, whether it's from outside threats, or interior threats, like an industry that thrives on death and destruction, the death and destruction of American Citizens....
we need a government that will put a meaningful, useful reliable process in place that you need to to be able to complete if you want a weapon....do you have a criminal record? do you have a history of mental illness? are you taking certain medications? do you have any need at all for a weapon, except to make yourself feel better about being a coward with a little dick?

Calm down buddy, and yes it is a point! Where the root of the problem possibly lies!! Watch all the haters come out and youll see. Everyone's on edge lol. And I'm not here to SOLVE the world's problems im just pointing out where I think the US society as a whole could start if they REALLY want a change for the better rather than blame everything on the government!?

The greatest country in the free world!? Do you have to tell yourself that when you walk to the shop to get a loaf of bread with your gat at your side!!? Or when you see a grieving mother standing over her child bathing in his/her own pool of blood!?

and that's a reason to not do anything? no more ammo....no more black powder, no more casing sales...then they can use their guns as clubs to beat each other to death....and as far as criminals not following the law....the goddamn gun shop owners better start following it. Lawsuits are becoming a lot more popular...you sell a gun to a criminal, and you're responsible for what they do with it.
catch a criminal committing a crime while armed? MANDATORY 20 year sentence...completely separate from the crime they were committing, and to run consecutively, NOT concurrently... see how long it takes for those fellas to die in prison.

there are always answers...you just have to not be a weak ass cunt and kick these motherfuckers asses...these irresponsible, stupid, weak, cowardly motherfuckers....
