COBSHOP

For those of us that don't wanna emulate electricians this place has the best prices on completed cob lights I have found. Super popular at Auto Flower Network.

Timber's prices have gone up recently, Rapid is also overpricing, imo.

That stuff looks like junk. Probably why they are cheap. No specs anywhere on the site, just that they call it a 150w hps replacement.

Hundreds of grow journals at AFN, they are far from junk. One man operation.
Not every vendor is greedy AF.

It would be better if he listed specs tho, but his lighting is legit and so is the owner.

You can choose the spectrum, output is 65 watts each. If I ran a one man operation, I'd limit specs to limit the amount of emails and phone calls.

I sure cant see 65 watts replacing a 150 watt HPS. Maybe with 3 of them.

Seems expensive for what it is.
That's what I was thinking.

I'd do the opposite knowing that many LED growers are pretty savvy and want to know what they are getting.

Ya, that was one of the questions I asked in this mornings email....If its Meanwell he's using I'm ordering.

He's in the USA, that much I know.
With such small savings the chibi would be a smarter purchase.
His lights are less wattage, perfect for supplemental lighting or a single plant. And he isn't making as much profit as Chilled, Rapid or Timber.
His profit margin is likely greater. I could build one of those for under $50.

The Timber 2VL Chibi would be much better. It covers "UP TO 2 x 2 area in VEG" and it has more wattage, thats why. 100 watts though is weak for a 2 x 2 area at 25 watts per sqft. The 65 watter would be good for about 1.3 sqft in flowering IMO.

In the end I think you wanna figure out how many watts per sqft you want to get, as thats the key. Then figure out how many sqft you are covering, then you know what sort of wattage you need to aim for.

I just want a few 2700k 90 cri Cobs for mid to late flower......250 for a pair is reasonable. I read thru a thread at AFN, he does use Meanwell drivers. There is a question and answers thread there. Fucking huge thread though. Don't need max wattage at all. With my CMH in a 4 x 4 I don't need it.

The timber 2vl is $279 for 210w. Direct from timber.
Not sure how you consider 130w from cobshop for 250 any kind of deal.
Sounds like you have your mind made up anyhow
Vero's burn plants, been reading that lately . Not wanted. Found out Cobshop is using Citizen Cobs, I really want Cree CXB3590's........my best bud uses those and I've seen the results.

At least we agree that there is no cost savings with cobshop.
Vero's burn plants more than other cobs.... really?

Theres a maybe slightly missguided thread on this that just came back active. Vero wouldnt burn plants anymore than citizen, their spectrum is all but identic. Its just about someone giving his plants too much light without the right environment or root development.

This shop has been around the ledsection before and uses standard components; it surely isnt junk. But the pricepoints really arent that good. Also power supply + heatsink in the same package: nice if you want a self-contained fixture which you can hang and adjust height individually. Bad for thermals as the heatsink is cooling both the led and the power supply.

The burn is simply the light being too close.
More then one grower was bitchin about Vero burn, and not just on THIS forum. I was seriously considering Timber at one point, but their prices keep climbing and they are using Vero's instead of CXB3590's.......most ppl dont give a shit if Vero's save .75 cents a month over CXB3590's......its performance that is most important.

timber is about the only company at Ledgrowersdepot that doesn't ship FREE also. All the other companies bite the bullet on shipping....but not Timber.....most have %'s off also, not Timber.

Dan may be a great guy, and Timbers lights are aesthetically pleasing.......but pricing there is not great, imo.

If you order direct from timber the price is discounted, so with shipping you would be paying the price ledgrowersdepot lists, not including shipping.

I see people doing well with them too, they say they need to be higher due to the light intensity and heat.

This is from user @SomeGuy in another thread about the vero's.

"Take the acrylic off From in front of the cob. It's not he vero it's you man. Sorry... Raise the fricking light to 30+ inches above the canopy and have lots of air movement across the topof said canopy. Trust me... I know what the fuck I'm doing.

600w of vero18 matching easily my 600 w hps on the other side of this 8*8tent. This is just a 4*4 section covered by the led

That 100w of vero is killing your plant by intensity. Start them way high and move them down as the plants adapt. If you are not using quality organics then you will need to gradually add Cal mag as the leaves begin to show the deficiency. If in coco... A whole lot more...lol

Veros and cobs are only a tool. You have to learn to use them right for it to be effective."

Having to raise the light is a good thing because that means it can cover a larger area or be dimmed.
