Well im glad i ran across this thread. Im about to set up a couple tables for my first try at hydro (grew soiless for 8ish years) and i really like what you have going here.
I was wondering... and maybe you can help... i want to set up two 4x4 tables on one rez. So obviously 2 pumps, but what if i had 1 table higher than the other and used 1 pump to pump solution to the higher table then let that table drain to the lower table and then the lower table would drain back to the rez?
Am i over looking something in that? Im hoping to avoid using a second pump and second timer....
And how many clones would you put in a 4x4 table?

You could just flood both tables at the same time using 1 pump and a T fitting. You would need a giant res though. Also if you only use 1 res then you will need to run both tables concurrently as they will be getting the same feed so you are going to need A LOT of clones if you're doing zero veg. I prefer stand alone trays with their own res then they can be at different stages of flower and you need less space for mothers.
The idea of flooding one table which drains to the other then back to the res would work in theory but sounds like a headache to set up and maintain.
For zero veg I would do either 36 or 49 plants per 4x4 tray. Just depends on how many clones you have access to and the type of plant. Single cola indica doms you could easily do 49. Branchy OG types I'd go with 36.

Day 30. It's not just humans that look gangly and awkward in their teens:
Day 1 for this tray. I checked out the coco matting at the garden centre and coco was coming off it left and right and just looked like a messy headache to me so I shelved that idea for now.
Onwards into 2019!!

No not really. IMO light is light and, for me, the room environment is what makes the difference. For example, its summer here now and this most recent harvest, the buds were foxtailing so are less dense than the same cuts harvested in winter.
When I was using HPS I had a hard time keeping temps down all year round, but now I only have trouble keeping them down in summer. One day, I will have AC in my op lol

Was just wondering. When i switched to cob it was the only thing i changed and the buds changed too. The best way i can describe is... like when i used silica once... the leaves were thicker and buds sturdier...
Light is light, but i think different light can have a physiological change on plants. Like UV and so on...

To be fair though, I am only still running 1 cut that I had back in HPS days and it is a superstar under any light so you could be right.

I know people say that they see calcium or magnesium deficiencies with cobs but I dont see it personally. Canna classic A&B and PK 13/14 is all I use in flower. I have epsom salts they just sit on the shelf. I do find I need to use it occasionally in veg.
The same way people like to run their rooms hotter with cobs, I dont see that either. I find my plants are much frostier with more colour when the room is 23-26C than when the room runs 26-30C which is what everyone says is better for cobs. :shrug:

Yeah I dunno I kept waiting for the cal mag issues to arise as everyone said they had to increase when they switched from hps it but nope, just same as always.
