Advanced Nutrients

hi I’m currently growing in soil and using general hydroponics trio I have been wanting to use advanced nutrients for a few years now but don’t really know what I should buy. I know about the trio but I’m wondering about big bud and bud candy for flower. I’m open to hear about what some are feeding. I have a medical grow with about 40 budding plants

Plants only actually need certain things. Adding more things to the soil won't make the plants do anything they aren't already capable of genetically doing. I've never used advanced but I've thought about it over the years. It seems like lots of money, and lots of bottles of watered down gimmics. I've never seen an advanced grow journal that actually looked any better then the other side by side tests done by people. I'll let the soil growers make the recommendations on what you should use, but I wanted to give my 2 cents about the advanced since I've spent years watching people debate this same thing.

That all being said I tell everyone growing is a very personal thing. If you wanna try something, do the research and try it if its not totally crazy.

I used Advanced for years a eventually got tired of always chasing ph and deficiency because it is not perfect...…. I had used it so long I was afraid to change up my regime I switched to general hydro and have been super happy …...that was my expience

Like thunder said I like to try everything myself to see what works for me

Why do you want to use Advanced Nutrients?
It’s what’s available here at the only grow shop on pei. I was wanting something that i wouldn’t have to ph or add calmag I’m very open to other nutrient lines. With The gh I add calmag and ph. I don’t have any bloom booster.

I’m worried about changing too. What do you use for a bloom booster if any. I am looking for something to fatten buds

So it won’t keep the ph consistent?

Mega crop is a single nutrient that does it all. Green leaf nutrients has a full line up including grow a and b bloom a and b, pk booster amines resin enhancers ect just like everyone else but they also have a product called mega crop that has all that in one and it's a super cheep water solvable powder ( your not paying for 99% water)

You won't need "bloom boosters" if you just give the plant what it wants from the start. I've read great things about the mega crop Dynamo suggested for soil. When I was growing in soil I was using the fox farm nutes. I got a great harvest, but did a lot of mixing and playing around when it came to feeding time.

I havn't ran the GH trio in soil, but have used it over the years in hydro with good results. I've tried some different boosters and things over the last 13 years and never saw a difference worth the cost. The absolute best results I've ever seen from a nutrient have been using https://www.envybrand.com/index.php/envy-hydroponics . This is a hydro nute so I don't know for sure how it would work in soil, but I bet you could call the company and ask. Its an AWESOME nutrient. It has exactly what the plants need, is very PH stable once you set it. You use the same nutes through the whole life of the plant, and it works great.

There are totally some growers that swear by all 15 of the nute bottles they have on their shelf.

There are also tons of growers that have come to appreciate the KISS approach, and just try to provide the plants with what they actually need.

Megacrop. Dynagro. Maxibloom powder....these all work really well. I have used them all and am currently trying out megacrop. Most ferts are way overpriced. It’s literally a weed, you give it anything halfway decent and it’s going to grow great, or you can spend a ton on “high tech” watered down nutrients and get exactly the same results. People never believe this....I have had people grow 1 their plants with maxi (15$ bag) along side their expensive stuff and switch over. I did exactly the same thing when I started out and then I saw a couple grows on a forum using the Lucas formula...I switched then and haven’t looked back. Now everything I see in the grow shops screams snake oil to me. Just think to yourself how are they trying to rip you off.....

Dumbass question, so you'not boosting P or K in bloom? Does this not mean you're over feeding in veg? Or is it formulated to not build up? What medium do you use. I'm planning on going coco again. Sorry to highjack a thread, but this seems right up my alley in terms of ease of use.

It won't build up if the plant is eating it, and you aren't over feeding. The plants will only eat what they want. If you over feed then nutes build up and you can get burn. If you only give them what they need then you can just feed them till the end when they stop eating :).

I understand that part of it. Not sure how to phrase this... Conventional wisdom states that Marjuana uses more P and K in bloom than in veg. If you're feeding it only one food, won't it be getting more PK than it needs in veg? Or is the whole boost PK in bloom garbage?

Also, what medium do you use?

I grow in pots of Hydroton/growrocks in a flood and drain tray. Been working with this system for 9 years now.

Some guys/companies would say yes you have to blast the plant with P,K in bloom. Many of them heavily use or sell lots of additives and boosters...........

First let me say I'm not a botanist, and I don't mix my own nutes or anything. I'm not gonna claim to have all the info, I'm just sharing my understanding of things I've learned over the years. I'm just a guy that has tried some stuff and has done a lot of reading.

From my reading and experience its more about the ratios, concentrations and accessibility. The right ratios of NPK for happy growth so that the nutrients work together properly and in balance providing accessibility of each nutrient to the plant. Then feeding at the correct concentration for the stage of growth you're in to keep a healthy plant.

Most of the "all in one" nutes have plenty of PK for flower and they just get used in lower doses during veg. They have a proper ratio, you just have to change the concentration depending on how much your plants eat.

Then you'll ask well isn't that to much N for flower...right? The simple answer is no not usually. Green plants are healthy plants. Healthy plants produce the highest yields and the most cannabinoids. I try to keep my plants nice and healthy especially while they are flowering and working so hard.

That makes a lot of sense. I'll see if my local store carries. It. It stays stable in a res? I loved NFTG, but it says right on it not to use it unless you've got agitation and it can cause issues with nozzles. I'll def have to give this a try. I'll probably run coco, but I'm also thinking of using stink buds aero system. Not sure yet.
