Anyone have any ideas maybe experience in a 3 site rdwc for a 5×3×10? 4 site seems too much for I have to take in account the main resevoir. And I would have preferred to have it outside grow area but that's a cant do lol 20180323_205558.jpg

2 27 gal HDX totes with 2 plants in each, connected by pvc with an inline pump, and skip the control res. should be about 30 ish gallons total.

I have 1 1/2 in pvc and same size uniseals on the way . Will that work ?
if it were me, i'd do it a bit differently since you have 10 ft ceiling

put the totes up on cinder blocks, and use bulkheads in the center of each tote., then put your inline underneath the totes.
the center bulkhead would help keep roots out vs on the side of the totes
and you could run a small drain off the 1.5 pvc to a floor drain if you have one nearby. flip a valve, and that thing would drain in a few minutes

i did it this way but used shower drains as my bulkheads. they are basically a slip bulkhead but they ahve the metal grate to keep out soap or hydroton. and they fit 1.5 pvc. you'd need 2 elbows and maybe 6 ft of 1.5 to be safe and some pvc glue.

hooking up the inline would be a bit tricky. not sure you could use 1.5 with that. i had a control res so mine was different.

even better idea, connect the drains of each as i said above with bulkheads and 1.5pvc

take waterpump A in tote 1 with black tubing to a waterfall in tote 2
take waterpump B in tote 2 with black tubing to a waterfall in tote 1

So the control res is not necessary than right ? Just connect both totes with the 1.5 in pvc between each other. And a T connected to the inline pump ?

sorry, i meant to say leave out the inline pump

basically, 2 waterpumps total in a X formation to the other tote. the 1.5 would just make sure the water level stays even in both

All you really need to do is aerate the solution. That's what the waterfalls will do. The added benefit would be the induced flow in and out of each tote-keeps everything mixed. I use a similar idea on my 4-17 gal tote UC setup.
