Thanks man already saw his builds, they are great but I feel that none of his lights are high enough wattage for the spaces they are intended to cover. He's a great resource but after learning what I could from him I was more interested in seeing lights that are genuinely producing the product I am aiming to produce with said lights. Instead of bell peppers.
How can you say a given setup doesn't produce enough light to cover that space?
Any number?

Btw his builds are meant to be a reference to start with, diy led are fully modular

Look dude I'm not bashing him I just personally think that the 240h-24 driver he suggests for a 2x4 is substantially less than I would want to run.
Obviously there's people on here growing nice bud with less watts than that of CFL. But we all have different needs, wants, and expectations in life.

You can also run 600w in a 2x4 tent.
But why would you run more than 240w in that space? How many watts would you run in there?
Usually people get 260w for example

There's a saying in the long distance hiking community that's I think this community needs to embrace. It's the idea of "hike your own hike".

Essentially what it means is that not everyone can eat the same things day after day, or travel the same distance day after day, or sleep comfortably in the same conditions that another person can after hiking day after day for weeks on end. Some people develop their trail legs by their 14th day of hiking over 20miles a day others like me typically have their trail legs by their 9th day. Some ultra light weight guys insist that carrying any more than 15lbs excluding food and water is for idiots, But I've done the entirety of the pacific crest trail carrying 34lbs and outpaced many ultralight weight guys (who were all super eager to tell me that I was carrying way too much). What it is really about is that worrying too much about the specifics of why or how someone else is doing everything exactly the way they are won't help you get any farther in a day or be any more comfortable on your journey.

This journey of life if for you to navigate in whatever way makes you happy.
No offense intended but I stated what driver i intend to run above(480-24a/b). And I've now gone as far as to reiterated my personal rationale.

You grow your grow, I'll grow mine.
It's supposed to be one love, honoring and respecting the holy sacrament that is Cannabis.

Why get so caught up in other people's personal decisions? If i chose to grow hydro or soil or hempy or organic notill. If I chose to use blurple or hid or cmh or cobs. Would it negatively impact your life in any way shape or form? If not than why be so quick to try to change my way?

It's not like you even offered up scientific information substantiating your viewpoint. You are just telling me your feelings.

I have a 2x4 I can run at 240w, Citizen 1825s fan cooled at 30w each. PPFD should be at or just over 1000, 20 par watts per foot. I can whip out my par meter if anyone doubts the power of 1825s at low wattage.

How come nobody talks about the 1825s anymore? Bridgelux has made incremental improvements to the veritable Vero 29C but the 1825s are probably still a bit more dope... which they should be because of the price premium.

Anyone running strips or other configurations at +60% efficiency?

More common 240w solutions running at 50% efficiency would only produce a PPFD of around 750.

Simple female bullet crimp connectors covered with heat shrink is so much slicker than Wagos and only costs cents... and you can squeeze it into thin channels and tubes.
I'm sorry I've never done any electrical work that wasn't plug and play, how is the wire being split under that heatshrink? When I google bullet crimps It only looks like single line connections.
Sorry for the stupid question.

It is 1 wire connected to 3 in the example I posted.
It is basically a crimpable aluminum tube as long as the wires are big enough to fit and crimp securely it will work.... I think that one is about an eight

The heat shrink is the black, the blue is the bullet connector's insulation. You can see where it has been crimped.

That's super clean. I'll be using waygos to start as my flowering tent will be repurposed as a mother/veg tent within the year. And I'll be reformatting my flowering light to cover a larger square footage as I already have the 32 f526b strips and heatsinks.
But when that happens and things are in a position of permanence I'll certainly be going this route.

You are on the internet, you are posting in a public forum. Your posts and ideas are eventually subject to users' opinion and we can post questions and it is your right not to answer.

We are here to exchange our ideas about growing, led growing specifically. You stated that you are going to use much more wattage that we are used to see. Why are we growing with that wattage per sqft? Because of estimated PPE and PPFD, numbers based on papers and data from datasheets.
You are going a different way. You could have new ideas or different opinions. Something to share with us maybe.
I am always ready to improve my grow.

Not even slightly upset on my end. Didn't intend on hurting anyone's feelings with that post. It's unfortunate if I did. There must have been something lost in translation.

I'm not trying to pioneer my way into a new era of anything. I'm admiring one of the lights on this thread and was attempting to communicate with the owner about how it strikes me as a appealing build design and specification. After going through that individuals grow log it reassured me that I like the idea of not being stuck at 240watts And that there is merit behind it. Such as apparently the drivers run way hotter when used at maximum capacity. Additionally the idea of having room to scale up or alter my light in the future isn't possible if I'm right up against the ceiling of the possibilities of a certain driver. I'm not planning on running the full 480 watts immediately, but I like the idea of having the option in the future.

I hope that people emulating this are careful. Butt splices are frowned upon by many electricians in most circumstances as they are less reliable and certainly less servicable than other methods of joining wires. From the picture it seems that the crimping tool used was for non-insulated crimps, yet the connectors are insulated; also keep in mind that butt splices are designed to join two wires together as opposed to four. Be safe and do 'tug tests' on the wires before heat shrinking. Have fun and stay safe out there!
