if i have 7 gallon pots and lets say 4-5 ft tall how often and how much should one water? also how often should i water/feed? thanks in advance!

haha thc infused fried chicken with a side of green mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with a little cannabutter on the top leeeeeeeego xD . and no i dont mind guesses im just looking for rough estimates or if someone has had the experince with thsi size pot. also ill have 5k watt lighting for 35-40 plants

No wonder! You probably have some calculating to do for thinking ahead. I'm just doing this a little while. My answer based on 4 gal cloth pots and I guess similar light to pant density and increased x 7/4. Soil with perlite. I kept on the dry side to keep fungus gnats away which for that at least worked well.

haha right! and being in cali water is quite expensive if i buy jugs or barrels im wondering if tap water will be okay if i let it sit out for 24 hours

Supposedly tap should be ok. Try to find your community report for the water's chemical analysis to see what they treat it with, probably chlorine or chloramine. Let it sit 24 h or more and chlorine I think halves. Chloramine less so I think but nothing you can do. I let it sit anyhow. With the top off of course. Also check your tap's pH. If 7 fine. If 8, may be a little troublesome and if it were me I would pH down. If it's hard water it probably has calcium so then you can add less of that to your nutrients. But for your size I might invest in the reverse osmosis if there is anything wrong with your water and depending on your medium.

depends on your environment;temp, humidity, plant health, age, light source, air quality/exchange.
I water 2 gallons of indoor dirt with about 1/2 a gallon of water every few days

no, 2.5 gallon containers, with 2 gallons of dirt. I like some splash space on top.
when I used 5 gallon pails/4 gallons of dirt I used 1 gallon of water ever 2/3 days, or when the bucket was light.

of course the substrate needs consideration. at one end say perlite vs pro mix vs miracle grow. perlite would require more watering frequency than pro mix etc.

plants aren't fish, they like a little chlorine. unless the ppm in your tap water is outrageously high, it ought to be fine for your plants, better than ro water, in fact.
as far as how much water they'll use, depends on the temps and rh in your room, the airflow in your room, how many leaves the plant has, the overall size of the plant, the intensity of your lights, the makeup of your growing medium........kind of hard to answer, even if you provide all that information.
i find in general that once they get past seedling size, it takes about a quart every two to three days under 20 hours of light. once they start to get bushy i slowly start to up it. by the time they're ready to go into the flower tent, they're usually taking a half gallon twice a week.
once they go into the flower tent, it can easily go to a half gallon every other day, then a gallon every three days, sometimes every two days.
thats in 7 and 10 gallon smart pots. plants are between 3 and 5 feet, call it 4 feet average. lights on temp is 77-78, rh is 45-50, in peat with 25% perlite added
