Viparspectra thoughts from people that have used them

Nope. Small space, short veg, hps seedling to harvest. SOG method would suit your space really well.
No bat wings either. Air cooled, or nothing. A reflector shouldn't take up more than a foot of head room. It should be around the same for an led. You still need to hang led too.
Are there any brands of hps fixtures I should stay away from have found a couple of decent deals definitely think a air cooled tube is the way to go lightweight and double ended to really keep the heat away

Here you go bro, if your on a super tight budget at least this setup had a "Name Brand" behind it.

Also, don't be afraid to pick up some used equipment on the down low

The only thing really, to watch is your electronic ballast. Unless you buy a super expensive one, they interfere with am radio, and digital TV. My viparspectra interfered with my radio as well though. A lot of led's do.
A simple fix is to buy several RFI clips, to clip on each end of your cord. They cost $1 or 2, and worked splendidly for me.

As far as your light goes, that's the beauty about hps. The light quality, from manufacturer to manufacturer doesn't vary much at all. Just grab a spare bulb.
The real limiting factor for hid efficiency is in a quality ballast. Though honestly you won't notice the difference, unless you're growing side - by - side.
Magnetic ballasts don't interfere with radios and TV. But they also don't come with dimmers, and run much hotter.

Imho, you need a dimmer.

Simple advice-If you have the ability to get rid of the heat generated by a HID rig, then go with that-it's cheaper up front and gives dependable results. If heat is a problem then using current tech diodes will allow you to use less energy to get the same amount of photons-just costs more up front. Plenty of info out there to step through the mine field...
I think a 400 watt HPS would vastly outperform that vipar. I like cobs and the cmh but for the money its hard to beat the initial setup cost of an HPS

Cooltubes require ducting and an inline fan. So will venting the room if you are going to want to use a can filter for odor control. This is where closets get sketchy and why so many small hobby growers use tents. No need to start chopping holes in the wall or figuring out where to mount your fans/filters/lights. My first 5 years of growing was in a closet and I bought a tent as soon as I became aware of their existence. Just easier when there is ready made spots for your ducting and accessories.

They don’t really make tents in my size perimeters and I’m not allowed to grow anywhere but in the closet

I’d say my space is about 3x3 if I’m real lucky not very deep and it’s not exactly a sealed off room it’s a closet with double sliding glass doors so I can leave them open some to let some heat dissapate but I lost a couple to my cats digging them up when they were young so I don’t dare leave the door open very wide and try to go in frequently and open the doors and let some of the excess heat out just got a little 3 speed fan blowing
Ive put a 3x3 tent in a closet not much bigger. Had to set up the tent in the closet lol I only closed the door when there was work being done in the house. Tents make everything so much easier. a tip is to get a blackout curtain and tension rod so you can maybe keep the pets out.

Get a 6" fan/filter and a variac controller so you can turn it down. Having lights on at night will usually help some with heat.

You’ll want to close off that room. Sliding doors for heat control is not the way. As stated you’ll want to vent out of the space. I have a 3x3 tent and my filter and fan are outside the tent so don’t be afraid to run some ducting. I had mine set up as: ducting at the top of tent that ran to the cooltube, ducting out of the cooltube, out of the tent to fan sitting on top of a carbon can filter that sits on the floor. Saved me a lot of headroom in the tent doing it like this.

I have recently got a reflector series 300watt Viparspectra i think it’s working good so far , only costs 180$ to run for the whole year , has a three year warranty , will cover 2x2 ft square tent in flower or 3x3 ft in veg , 100$ with free postage , great beginner light for someone with a small personal use grow, 1 or 2 plants in my opinion no more than that should be attempted under this light.

Read my review.
It's the honest truth.
I had nothing but headache with my vipar.

If yours isn't a lemon. Then I think you got very lucky.

Damn dude I’m hoping it won’t be a lemon, it’s going good so far, I only chose it because I watched a few YouTube videos with it and it looked good and people said they did well with it , they now have a version with flower and veg switch which is pretty neat , I checked on there site and it said they would pay for the shipping in the warranty , must be shit having to pay to ship a faulty light , perhaps try again you might get someone nicer on the phone and they might help you out ?

Don't get me wrong. I got colas. I also seeded one crop, and it got me nice seeds. But in all honesty it doesn't compare, in the volume of flowers, you get, with something different.

I hope your vipar puts out too. Not trying to be negative. Just sharing, what happened with mine.

It was two years ago, when I tried to return it. It was their company policy back then.
They may have improved their refund policy by now, and I hope they have.

Take it easy.
Happy growing dude.
Much love :peace:
