Need help deciding something

Right, so let me begin by explaining how I got where I am at this grow. My flowering room was full and my the plants in veg are getting bigger everyday. Now a week before harvest I ran out of nutrients, the order was already put sometime before that, but ofc something was wrong with the shipping so it was delayed. The plants keep growing taller and are now deficient. The nutrients arrived, but now I want to regenerate the plants a little before I flip the switch and im running out of space.

So here's what im considering:

Killing off 25-40% of the plants to make some space inbetween them and then supercrop all the tops about 25" down to the sides to fill up the canopy

or cutting off the tops 25" down the stem grow them 1 week and flip it.

What do you guys think?

You are running out of vertical space, Okay I had the same problem with my personal grow which was Durban Poison it is basically 90% sativa, the problem was it grew really fast verticaly even when i topped it. So i found this low stress training method.
Take the branches that are to too high and take string (not wire unless it is a very thick branch or twine) tie it around the branch before the top the gently pull it down. Secure it to the base of the pot, where the bend occurs also take twine/string and tie that down.It forces it to try and grow vertically again.Giving you the extra vertical space needed for flower.In doing this it makes them kinda grow more horizontally if done right so you will get a sort of bushier canopy.

First of all thanks for stopping by, tying them down like you suggest is kind of the same as supercropping, except the stress level ofc. if i were to do this I definetly need to chop down some of the plants. my space is 4x12 And it's friggin packed atm.

im kind leaning towards pruning them back to keep the stems shorter and less work. At this point im wondering how far you can prune them back without damaging them beyond repair.

Yeah I think you should select the ones you want to keep then cutt down the rest so that it allows for the room required for flowering but implement a super cropping or other method of pruning to keep the height controllable.
When it comes to pruning i would be careful, I top mine and then I let them have 2 weeks recovery before flowering.But with methods like low stress training and the one I mentioned you can flower them sooner.

I wouldn't top this close to flower, you are not going to regrow much in a week.
I do like a good super cropping to get all tops even, dominant ones can be bent a bit lower than the rest to force them to catch up.

I’m guessing you meant a week before flower, not a week before harvest.

I’d say supercropping, topping or any training is risky unless your plant is kicking ass.

I’d get them back on track with their feeding and in the meantime, try to use some methods to reduce upward growth.

One pretty proven method is to keep your nighttime temps the same or even a few degrees warmer than your daytime. (Just make sure your RH is on point, and that you have plenty of air circulation. Warm and wet in the dark is mold heaven.)

There is a U of Michigan study that talked about doing a “cold dump” in the first 2 hours of light. The method was keep day & night temps the same, then lower temps by maybe 5f during the first 2 hours of light. I have tried to do this a bit, but it was too much adjusting and I wasn’t in a dire straights situation like yours. (I’ll see if I can find that link)

The other thing that keeps plants from growing up is defoliation. Again, risky to do with less than robust plants,but you could consider it.

Hey dude thanks for stopping by! The plants have picked up quite since I first made the post, I feel confident I'll be able to supercrop tomorrow if they keep growing like this. hope this flue will let me get out of bed tho.... when it rains it pours.... My gf has been watering for me so that helps alot. Hopefully I can put in some work tomorrow.

Hello again good people! I have some great news, I took your advice and went with some supercropping and LST. I removed all the plants and put up a double trellis net, then I killed off 9 plants and moved the keepers in under the trellis. it was alot of work, but im happy I did it. Thought you deserve to see what you Inspired me to do so I added some pictures
