does anyone have side by side pictures of defoliated vs undefoliated

Sweet thats what I was thinking too. Do I even truly need a net? Plant has been supporting herself because of all the knuckles where I been snapping
The plant uses energy to hold itself up, the whole idea is to transfer energy of the plant to bud development, the trellis destress's the plant allowing energy to develop bud.
Removing sucker or side Branch's allows energy to develop bud along the terminal stem, you want to transfer energy from where we do not want it to where we do want it before the plant can use the energy

You let the plants veg like normal, they will normally need to be around a foot tall is all to finish at 3 ft tall or so,
Depends on the strain,
Put them under the lamps cut all the tops level and even with one another when you first put them in to bloom, strip all side Branch's off by cutting them one inch off of the terminal stem and then pinch the top of the terminal stem,
My only question is when you snip the side braches at an inch what if their is no node there?
Do you just snip after the first node or will it force a new one

Some plants do not respond well to this training some do not but most do as long as it is a plant that will form colas,
Plants that form Bush's are totally unsuitable for this method .
But they will never preform well anyway and should be killed off for all but hobby growers. .
You snip the branch off forcing it to node near the terminal stem

K much clearer now .....now to figure out if i got bushes or colas lol

Most plants will form cola,
Ones that do normally with a 1000 and your conditions dialed in tight will throw around 4 lbs per 1000 watt.
That's with a light producer, some plants will form Bush's , with pop corn nuggets instead of colas.
I have found that many of these small producers do frequently have some tasty bud.
It is not many that will not form colas

Thanks for the knowledge:)

Ill try and get some time this weekend to do some shapeing to your recommendation on at least a couple of em :)

I put some pictures up on how to trim for colas, set plants even under trellis,
Remove all side Branch's extending out past the terminal stems you wish to keep.
Top all plants to even height ( this is what will keep the canopy completely even during stretch,
Trim and thing that shoots of terminal stems more than 2 inch's in growth for five weeks .
Set double trellis into place at week 2.5 to week 3

I understandyour reasoning behind having the plant in a double trellis but how much of an impact does it have if i didnt put a net in?

Make sure you spread the colas you are forming for light and air penetration in the trellis , ( last two weeks of trim are annoying )
The plant is energy, keep the energy contained to the terminal stem , do not let the energy direct itself in useless Branch's , make the energy go to the terminal stem

These are my estemates on increases in production from a dirt grower,
Orca film 20 percent .
Hydro 1/3 -1/2 over dirt
Trimming / light and air penatration maybe 80- 100 percent increase.
So yeah the bet makes a big difference in production, or can if it is used correctly

If i can manage to train the colas without a net (this time)
How much do you think the plant supporting itself will take away from yeild

You can find videos of Heath Robinson on YouTube, most of them have been taken down,
But a few are up. He grows for a seed company who pays him to advertise his grows , kind of a sponsor.
So these grows are from seed , it is difficult to control production without proper strain selection, still epic grows

Took your advice, I chopped alot of side branches, and auxiliaries, little armpit buds is what I call them haha and branches that are under developed and new.

Basically anything that's not making it to the canopy.

Left the fan leaf solar panels. :)

I have been doing this from the beginning. Just not as extreme as you.

I'm using bridgelux led strips I made myself. I'm not going for 3 feet of hps penetration. I'm working on an Even canopy , trying to keep enough airflow through pruning non terminal bud sites below the canopy.

Seen your drawings, thanks for the contributions

I did it to a branch or 2

And i might do it more before week 3 hits.

But i think im going to roll my way for this run
That way i get some numbers off this setup.
To compare later

Then mabey next run ill try your method
As i dont wana mess around with them too much at this stage :) i really was trying to find a method with less training and nets lmao

Thanks for the info though.
I still have the instruction manual you sent me in pm from a while ago :)
