You purchased off a different company..I tried purchasing the HLG lights from Growerlights. Completely different invoice and selling company. I am not upset with HLG.
Stephen from HLG even said at the top of this thread to see if they would negotiate on a shipping price.Tthey would not ship regular shipping which is wayyy way cheaper and doesn't , as someone thought, come by boat..lol..its not the 1800's.

I appreciate you standing up for HLG, I do, but you seem to have missed my main gripe. The shipping cost and them refusing to ship at a cheaper rate. Not HLG, Growerslights.

I have larger more heavier packages shipped regular from the States for $15 regular postage. Why would I want to pay $47 and get it around the same time anyway? Why wont Growerlights ship that way?

Anyway I have purchased some LED strips and driver from the UK and guess what? Its Free regular international shipping.
Free shipping
Free
Australia
Standard Shipping (Standard Int'l Postage)
You didnt read the shipping part did you?
"Free shipping is only available to destinations within the continental United States and items will be shipped via standard ground shipping. Multiple item orders may be shipped separately and on different days. An order placed with a shipping address outside of the continental United States will incur a shipping charge. An email will be sent for theadditional amount and must be paid prior tofulfilling the order."

An airline pilot throughout their career accrue millions of flight miles and thousands of successful flights. Sadly, 1 crash or incident could/would tarnish their name and success.

It's only an example. My point, don't publicly trash a company because you are upset about their shipping charges. This thread transitioned from pointing out a "not very clear" statement of free shipping to now you are arguing their shipping prices. Move on already... This was all unnecessary.

and look it still says Free shipping...

Fly Qantas.
Glad you think the charges are unclear to.
Free to me means Free. I'm guessing the dictionary would say Free meant Free to. If somethings not free then its not free..
Yes $47 posting charge is HUGE. Granted its not even an hrs wage but for postage it's HUGE Its like 3 times more expensive than it should be. Would of been happy to pay my normal America to here rate's, even told them that.
Already have. You lot just keep posting.
Already bought elsewhere. Wont deal with Growerlights ever again. Will tell anybody who mentions their name not to as well.
Its a win/win.

Glad you got it sorted. He didn't overcharge you on the shipping though. We can not ship the hlg-65 international for any less than 60 bucks. Whatever company you are buying from that is charging 15 bucks is eating some of the cost. What you don't realize is they don't lose money it just means they are charging a good price for the product.

Also if you would've ordered any of the hundreds of other companies products from them it would've been the same. I'm not really sure why you make it sounds like it's somehow our fault. That would be like blaming Coke for an experience you have at the local grocery.......

Not your companies fault at all. But as a small business owner myself id like to know if someone is unhappy.

You must agree that the screen shot I keep posting is at the very least misleading.

I get parcels from the states weekly if not fortnightly from different companies, mainly from Boatsnet and the costs have been the same ish for around 5 years, perhaps longer. I ordered some strips and a driver from the UK (for less than the QB, but I would of preferred the QB) free international shipping from the UK.

Any news on the Australian distributer, I believe there was meant to be one in January?

But they're such a cool company to deal with it just pisses me off this sites full of misinformation as it is.
Attacking a business cuz hes dyslexic isnt cool
I don't think he's dyslexic, he simply didn't check the details when he saw the word "Free".

A simple mistake, but given the amount of warnings on the internet about checking these things so you don't suddenly get extra, unexpected, charges then it's a mistake that shouldn't have been made.

Hopefully a lesson learned, and a warning to others not to do the same.

Good for you for getting what you wanted, but hopefully a lesson learned. And they have their standard shipping as they likely want to make sure that they don't get ripped off by someone on the other side of the world saying that they never got the goods or that they should never have sent it by regular post because it was clearly damaged in transit "so I want my money back and you're paying return costs or I keep the light". That's the sort of thing people do actually do, so they cover their backsides and, had you read the terms, you would have seen that and saved yourself a lot of bother.

Lesson learned, and if you need advice on wiring your new toy up feel free to ask.

Out of interest, could the shipping costs in the US be that $15 difference? You think the shipping is "free", but it's included in the cost type of thing?

My last post in this thread... If you are a SB owner, you would understand larger volume companies have the opportunity to establish contracts with shipping companies for far better rates. As a SB owner, you would appreciate if your customers went to you directly first and not broadcast what a "shit company" they are because they couldn't discount your shipping rates, but instead did the right thing and gave you a full refund for the confusion. Now that you didn't get your way, you went the YELP route and created this thread. As a SB owner myself, I understand the type of person you are quite clearly.

As my good friend Johnny stated, you are......

a fucking douche.

Then for everybody's edumication, if you order off digikey and qualify for free intl. shipping you are still going to be billed for your local taxes by UPS the moment the plane lands.
In my case it was about 1/7th of the purchase price extra.

Always has been so for orders from certain countries. I'm in the EU so anything bought from within the EU is not subject to local vat and import taxes, but anything from outside the EU can be, generally when it is above a certain value.

But the problem is that we can say this a million times and people will still cry because they don't read the small print, and it will always be so.

As long as the goods are under $1000 on the invoice then there is no duty, GST ect to be paid here.

Your free shipping was indeed free, but then you had SA's tax's to pay.

I must admit that's something I never thought of as I don't think Australia post has different pricing for larger business's, But I could be wrong. I don't post anything. I wouldn't think they do though.
I didn't even think that America would have different pricing for regular mail but they could have a few different regular mail supplier's where we just have the one. I think that their is private company starting up but I don't think they will survive long.

But that still doesn't make it OK for the site to say free shipping when its not. The correct term should be free domestic shipping or considering its the WWW, Free postage within America.

That may explain why the sites I order most from (and ill mention Boatsnet again as they are a brilliant company to deal with, and I highly recommend them) include the postage in the checkout, its not "Calculated" later and billed separately. Perhaps the shit company Growerslights should look into a different option. I just got Free postage from the UK on strips and driver. I have a parcel in transit atm from America, about 3/4 a meter square. $16 reg shipping.
Retail economy looks to be heading into a headwind in the next few years so any sale lost or extra expense adds up. Little fish are sweet as the saying goes.

And yes I am Dyslexic but people shouldn't use that as a insult, we can be just as successful as anybody else (I semi retired at 40 for eg). Our brain just works a little differently. If anyone else is reading this and also suffers from it, don't let it control what others think you can do or worry about them laughing when you struggle with "normal" things. Just get on with it.
