Drip ring DWC vs DWC....

I really dont see the added benefit from adding the drip ring to your air pump... i feel like the ring takes away pressure from your air pump.... what do you guys think???

ive heard people say to take it out once the seedling is older because the roots are submerged at this point so the ring is useless right?

you talking about a waterfarm?

i bought 2 outlet airpumps for mine. drip ring only until roots hit the lower res and then both drip ring and airstones

I find keeping the root crown, which can get stagnant, moist with fresh O2 water/bennies keep the roots healthier. If you're running a chiller, no need. Waterfall method has shown a higher d.o. level than air stones alone. I've even doubled the drip rings in past dwc grows

Just use separate air pumps like mountain man said

Yea exactly! My concern is. Whenever I have the dual outlet and disconnect the drip ring, I connect both lines to the pump and the pump is then stronger, so after the seedling is in the water you could just get rid of the drip ring so your pump produces more bubbles eh?

the only reason i keep the drip ring running after the roots hit the lower res is that the upper res has a ton of roots in it that i don't want to dry out and die. then you could get some root rot issues.

did you drill out the holes to a bigger size? i did that too. 3/8" i think is what i went with.

I agree with the above the ring can add benifits if its running .

Also i agree that youll push more air to the bubbles if you double up

They are great for systems that you dont want to have to tend seedlings or new clones till the roots get wet :)

That said ive gone the dark path lol:fire:

They stay in the cloner till roots are big enough to hit where ever i set the water level as i like a dryer crown area.

Then when they are big enough i slip their roots in a 1x1 hole i make in the bottoms of my net pots then i carfully backfill with growstones.

Which float btw which i find helps putting it in the system without transplant shock.

As i jigle the roots though the hole and i float the rocks in water to sttle them around the roots in a gentle way .

I used to worry about the diminished air supply when running drip ring in my dwc setup. I have multiple gh powergrower units. I worried when I used the provided single output small air pumps. They moved on average between 3-6 liters/min air to the unit split between ring and bottom resevoir. Then I bought an active air commercial "7" 12 outlet pump that puts out 18 liters/min out of each of the 12 outlets if all are used....higher if using less outlets. The difference was incredible. No clogs ever in the air line first of all with the increased pressure. Secondly the drip ring rains down water now and you can feel the air bubble in the resevoirs. The plants love it. Pump does run a bit warm....I found it actually is better to keep all outlets open whether running them or not as it seems to cool the pump down with less restriction.

Just sharing my experience....

I think I want one of these pumps... gonna be a bitch when I get 4 or 6 buckets going having 6 pumps... this was very helpful thank you! I'm learning more everyday. Sucks you learn so much more after you purchase equipment then you realize what you ACTUALLY want lol

Im running an alita 140 lph its awsome and quiet.

But it says in the manual it.MUST BE air cooled with a fan..

But its pushing 10 setups atm and still have great power.

If you trun the valves off except 4 it rages that water lmao

Im pushing my luck but im Running @ 72 degrees constantly with no funk that i detect.

But my system has a high turn over rate

Luckily I can check my babies regularly. So I keep those temps down. I just want an easier soution.. I know a chiller but jeeze.. pricey

what are bennies??? i have confirmed i want a new pump and im going to keep the drip rings with 10 inch buckets, i think the better pump and having a res outside of the tent will fix all of the issues. now i just need to find a good pump and figure out how im going to setup a multi system dwc with a bigger res...
