Hello all, beginner grower here first harvest smells like dirt and looks like mold.I smoked some and it tastes terrible. Can I save this herb by using as a arthritis creme/topical or possibly for edibles,or should I just dispose of it all together. Please advise and any recipes are pleasantly welcomed thanks CW

Hi bug eye and legal canada, yeah i think i ruined it during first week of cure, garage temps 40degree at night to 100 in the day here in los angeles summer.then i cured in mason jars for 1 month burping jars every day,but from the start already smelled like dirt and wet hay,but the hay smell went away and smelled good like pungent gorrilla glue should smell like.but the dirt mold smell always stayed there.during cure and inspection with eye loupe looks like little clusters of brownish bud and sometimes white powdery crystals as though when adding nutrient to water it is not properly mixed and a powdery sediment is in the bottom of the container. All buds are shaken down at the moment awaiting either arthritis creme/balm but like legal canada said bho but i would still be inhaling bho so i think thats still gonna have mold taste right?? and even if i make a balm will the mold affect my skin because it will absorb the mold too right???
sorry for the many questions but wonder if this harvest might harm me instead of heal.CW

Thanks Sour Wreck, ive done QWET before with my coconut oil /canna oil creme, but have been curious about QWISO, do you recomend decarbing the herb before QWISO?? last time with my QWET i didnt decarb the herb and was wondering if it would have been beter if i did. I read somewhere to extract CBD in marijuana oil pick high CBD strains and don't decarb the herb because that only helps THC levels rise, CBD does not have to be heated to extract valuable anti inflamatory extracts. I found 91% iso alcohol, hope thats pure enough??? CW

i've never done QWET, but i only decarb if i am going to cook with it, and that is to turn THCA to THC. my decarb comes after my extraction.

finally 91% alcohol is pure enough, don't use the 70%...

I'm going to get sick like Chemphlem.

Would you touch or eat moldy food?

Should I bathe my old bread in h2o2 and eat it anyway?

I get very sick from mold and Mrs. MMG has ended up in the hospital with a football for neck gland from breathing it.

This part of why I grow my own.

wtf, same here.....its why I grow
what year ish?

shame it takes a near death from mold to convince others aye?
I spent a fortune to assure I would not have mold outbreaks.
Incidentally these same controls made better bigger more potent weed too, go figure.

If I ever see mold on a bud, masked, I promise to;
spray soapy water on the whole budded/vegged plant,
bag it and put it into the compost pile/fire pit.
then fix whatever ill room controls I failed .:spew:

I totally understand hurt feelings lost money and no weed but let that be a learning experience.
my first grow bible was pretty strict on these settings, I followed them for a no mold grow every time

We all rely on our harvests to work out. I had mold once when I had a window ac in the flower room I had some foam insulation board directing the direct air away from the plants. The plant just next to the foam board must have been in a stale pocket of air behind there as the huge ounce size looking cola on top was starting to mold.

I threw away the whole plant right away. Mold breeds more mold. Yuck.

I know, but the thought of handling it, breathing it, consuming it dead even riles me.
then the thought of me failing my room controls, my hobby, a living plant and my meds and a waste of money....just gets me down, enough to take it real serious next time
besides its just so not worth it for me. I harvest biweekly and have a dozen strains at my ready full time. a failed plant
wouldnt even be missed, more like - awwww

ok, but between 91% ISO and coffee filter screens it won't kill some one.

that's all i am saying

You can say and do wherever you want. But if you share with a highly allergic person it can be bad.

You and others may never notice. But you never can be sure.

I would want to be warned. The threads I just scanned scare the hell out of me.

I used to caugh black stuff up from the growers and dispensaries when I moved here. Turns out it was from smoking their flowers. I haven't done that since I started smoking my own.

Humid mold breeding state I live now. Real different from Colorado where I was.

i'm not discounting anything you say. some peoples body and lungs do react much more harshly from what i read.

i was recently in colorado and picked up a couple grams of some shatter. did not affect me an any negative way. i make my own BHO and QWISO and neither have had any noticeable negative effects on me.

one thing we can agree on is when one grows, he/she knows exactly where the plants have been
