Subbed! - lol Sounds great, new strains, new nutes, new medium, new pots, you got balls - lol

BTW: You are literally the first tester for the Blue Ripper x Blue Pyramid (F1's) so it's a "lets see what's in that box of chocolates" grow. Have a couple of names in mind but don't name them until at least the second cross to see if it's worthwhile breeding on. It is a killer Blue Ripper F1 male (original F1 rks male for Blue Ripper, Blue Harley, and Waldo's Harley) crossed with a killer Blue Pyramid (Pyramid Seeds) female pheno. Both have some common genetics in Blueberry, both have skunky undertones and have produced triple-bagger phenos so could be some very tasty/hashy phenos in there.

Good luck with the grow!
I could test out next round (jan/feb) though I really don't want do the whole looking for females thing again with regular seeds but ill do it for you lol

from what i did see of megacrop i liked how soluble it was, like it just dissolves almost instantly, but it really smelled like shit lmao but not so bad when you mix it, have you ever tried jacks ?
No never tried Jacks but if the Mega Crop is good, i’ll have 21.7lbs of the stuff so I shouldn’t run out anytime soon .

I got the inline fan from them. I was going to get the 1000w ballast and the free MH + HPS bulb that came with it but decided to shell out the extra cash on a real ballast vs a cheap Chinese one that is re-branded. I did not want RFI at all and the ballast i got guaranteed shielding. The bulbs that come with it dont seem like they were any good either, same rebranding and probably the same crappy iPower or Vivosun. I ended up USHIO Gro Lux MH and I going to order eye hortilux sometime today or tomorrow for HPS (flowering). Found a source that comes out under 100 for the bulb delivered. Anything local is 150-200 for the damn bulb. I am surprised there is only 2 damn hydro stores in this city of over a million especially with legalization coming.
I just checked out that site and they got a lousy selection of cheap lights and when I checked out the AN nutes I use their prices were about 20% higher than the hydro store in Edmonton where I've bought a lot of stuff the last 15 years. That free shipping ain't really free. :)

I was out in BC a month a go and scored a used magnetic 1000W MH/HPS ballast for $70 as my old 1000W MH one needs a very expensive, $225 Hortilux conversion bulb for flowering. Last year out there I got one for $170 and have done one grow with it so far. I'm still using a 16yo 400W EYE Hortilux conversion bulb that runs off an HPS ballast for MH light and the plants seem to grow fine under it.

I picked up a couple of Chinese Super HPS bulbs for $40 each. Light EnerG brand. Says on the box they work with magnetic or digital ballasts. Regular 49.95 but he gave me a deal as I was spending a thousand bux. Compared the spectral output pic against the Hortilux one at the store and they are near identical. I doubt they will work for 16 years but for flowering I'll want to replace the bulb every 6 grows anyway. As I only need 1 - 1000W for my grow I now have backups in case the only one I did have blows on me or that MH ballast fails.

Check out the size of that 1000W Hortilux conversion bulb compared to the standard sized 16 year old 400. Like a freakin' football and barely fit in my reflector. That's an 18" ruler too.

Nice strains. The Blue Ripper is top shelf IMO. My Blue Harley is almost ready and I hope to make to nice oil with it.

Subbed!
I’m not much of an oil guy, but I would love to get a pheno with some crazy terps to make some rosin with. Damn now I need to build a rosin press too. Lol.

I won a small bag of that too but shipping way up north would be too much so didn't bother getting it. I'll keep an eye on your grow and see what you think of it.

I agree that their bulbs weren’t high end but neither were their prices when I bought my set up from them. I was all in with tent, ballast, two bulbs and 6” carbon filter system for less than $700 delivered. No one else came close to that price. I admit it needs some tweaking but I’m happy to do that as money becomes available. I also bought Remo Nutrients “Supercharged Kit” at the same time for $130 I think . That was cheaper than I could find it anywhere else at the time.

For me just starting out, I couldn’t have done it without them. Are they the best? Probably not for everyone but they did good by me and I like to give credit where credit is due. Besides even though their HPS bulb wasn’t the best in my opinion, it will do just fine as a spare just in case my hortilux ever craps out.

Nothing wrong at all with getting a package deal for a good price then upgrading as you can afford to or the cheaper stuff wears out.

Like my mom still says, Champagne taste on a beer budget. :)

The hortilux is a great bulb tho and I have a few of them now.

I got gallon jugs of AN 3-part for $40 each last year and a 500g can of Big Bud powder for $80 so that's enough for a few years. Free 500ml jug of Bud Factor X too that I'll be trying to see if it would be worth paying for. Bud Ignitor and OverDrive did nothing noticeable on side by side grows so won't ever use them again.

I try to make every grow an experiment of some kind and so far haven't failed too badly on the worst efforts in the last 16 years. :)

Ok people are gonna hate but ... Led is the way to go if you are gonna spend the money ....AN can suck a dick.. 45 bottles of watered down shit @ 20 bucks a bottle; But as for pheno hunting, I'm doing one myself, CBD Shark Shock from seedsman and "Indania" Bubblegum from Southern Oregon Seeds which after a nice text conversation Chris sent me to test for free :)

Yeah its a pick and choose the good priced items. Ducting is 20 bucks but only makes sense if you get free shipping. The inlines are good price, its all ETL certified and has its reg number. I couldn't find anything for the price and CFM output + certified. Ballast pricing is good vs other cheapos on ebay/amazon.

What works, works. If you check other forums and amazon reviews for all the cheaper china bulbs there are complaints of them crapping out in days to a couple months. I am going through my history to see if I can find the post on the Vivosun bulb spectrum claims and actual spectrum, turned out they just lie. Those Apollo bulbs have terrible reviews also, to be honest I think these bulbs are all the same, made in the same place and just custom branded.

Now really how much all this matters is totally up to you. Hortilux bulbs start to shift spectrum and its recommended to change bulbs every year depending on the usage hours. Will you grow enough additional yield that would offset the bulb? maybe but I tend to buy the best stuff and the lowest price even if it costs me many hours of research and shopping around and getting discount codes etc. Ill choose reputable vs China, I have had shit from ebay catch on fire (xmas LED strings) some years ago, they don't care about anything but taking your buck and being shielded from any legal action. Safety matter to me as I have a lot to loose if my home goes up in flames and insurance wont want to cover it as it is a grow and in their eyes breaks the contract.

I used the "fat" type 1000w MH in the past grows and on my aquarium (some say its over kill but my corals showed different) I think it was a SunMaster. This time I went with the German 1000w USHIO HiLux Gro bulb, its also a conversion and cost me $95 local, no problems running it on Phantom II. This bulb does not have the football shape and fits in cool tubes (though I chose a hood anyway)

I never did use their 2 parts or anything other than the organic Iguana Juice Grow/Bloom + molasses (last time I grew was like 8+ yeas ago) and it worked great for me and my first couple runs. I called them up about a month ago to ask about how to get fresh product or know how the stuff is expired (one of the hydro store had dust caked on it) and didnt want to buy something that would kill my plants right off the bat. Guy went on babbling about how they are now certified organic in the US but the new stuff has not made it to Canada yet, wasn't even trying to make a sale so I never looked back. I am trying Botanicare Pure Blend Pro this time around to see how it works out.

Shit I wasn’t getting updates that posts were being made here! Lol. I was visiting other grow journals but not my own.

But as to my light choice, I’m choosing the the hortilux because I have used them in the past and already have everything set up for it. However I would like to try LED of some sort eventually. Maybe when I build my perminent grow room. But that’s not going to happen anytime in the near future. Since we are planning to move in the near future.

As for the seedlings, today 5/5 BRXBP , 5/5 Blue Harley and 3/5 Blue Ripper have cracked and are planted. Just waiting to see them pop up now. I’ll give the other two Blue Ripper seeds a couple more days to open before I germinate a couple more to replace them.

I can hardly wait until they come up so I can start posting pictures.

I just put 9 in the dirt last night myself. 3 AK47 fem ,(sunk right away and all 3 cracked in 16-17 hours), 3 Original Skunk, one cracked within 24hrs, and 3 BlueBerry, one had just sunk a couple hours before planting so watching to see if it comes up. The last two are Crop King offerings and the AK came from CanukSeeds.

Good luck to both of us! pass.gif

Today I moved everything into the tent. Up until now the seedlings have been living on my kitchen counter but its pretty cool in our kitchen and was probably slowing growth. Now they are kept between 22.6C & 27.8C under my 125w 6300k cfl in the tent with one fan on low blowing over them. A few showed leaves only a couple hours after being put under the light.

Still waiting for mine to pop up. Went in to check them before bed and automatically switched the light off when I closed the closet door. Didn't check them a gain until around 2 in the afternoon and the laser thermometer pegged the soil temp at 52F. That'll slow them down a bit. :)

I put a piece of tape over the switch so I don't do that again.

Today there are nine seedlings that have popped up through the dirt. I think things are moving along nicely now that the plants are in a warm humid environment.

Tomorrow I’m going to plant a few more seeds to get my numbers up to 5 of each strain. My ACMPR limit is 15 plants so I will grow 15 plants.

I also placed my order for my free bag of Greenleaf Nutrients “Mega Crop “.
This should be interesting to see how it compares to the liquid nutrients I usually run.
