Tips for Dyna Grow Foliage Pro in soil

I'm almost 3 weeks into flowering on my first grow.
I'm doing Pineapple Haze (sativa dom), Blueberry, and Strawberry Kush indoors, in 5 gallon pots with 70% Walmart organic potting mix and 30% perlite. 600W MH during veg and 600W HPS during flower.
I'm using Jack's All Purpose (20-20-20) and Jack's Bloom (10-30-20).
I water when the soil is dry and do 1/4 to 1/2 strength nutes with every watering (based on the package directions for feeding with every watering). My tap water is soft, but has a ph of 7.5 to 8. After letting it sit in a bucket for 24 hours and adding nutes, it is around 7 to 7.5, so I use ph Down to get it to 6.4 or 6.5 every time.

Everything's gone reasonably well, but I've had a few issues with brown spotting and yellowing leaves, mostly on the Pineapple Haze plants, but with the Blueberry affected a little also. It first happened a couple weeks into veg, when I upped my dose of the Jack's All Purpose. At that time, most people thought I had a Ca, Mg, or K deficiency. I flushed and added CalMag to my regimen and the problem went away. The second time it happened was this past week when I started transitioning from the All Purpose to the Bloom formula. After reading about high P causing lockouts and looking at the deficiency pictures for the nutes that it locks out, I'm convinced I'm giving too much P (plus, I assume ph down adds P as well).

So I just ordered some Foliage Pro and I'm going to try using that instead of the Jack's, at least for the next couple weeks.

A couple of questions:

Do I need to add CalMag or does the FP provide enough for a soil grow with soft tap water?
Do I need ProTekt for a soil grow?
I know some use FP all the way through flower and some, even if they agree that the need for high P is a myth, use a mix of FP and Bloom during flower (9-3-6 and 3-12-6, which would average out to a 12-15-12 ratio). So should I stick to the FP only or add some bloom to get a little more P while still retaining enough N?
Any suggested dosage for the FP?
I was thinking of trying the suggested maintenance dose of 1/4 tsp per gallon.

Here are some pics from a month ago, when I first started having the brown spot issue. When it happened the second time last week, the symptoms looked almost the same, except the leaves are darker green.

"It first happened a couple weeks into veg, when I upped my dose of the Jack's All Purpose."
That should tell you something. Cut back on the nute strength.

Based on the color of the plant, the fact that flushing and adding Cal Mag fixed it the first time, and the fact that the second time it happened was after replacing some of the veg nutes with some high P bloom nutes, I'm convinced it was too much P locking out Ca or some other element. That's why I'm going to switch from Jack's to the Dyna Grow Foliage Pro starting with tomorrow's feeding and looking for advice on that.

I've had mixed results with FP. It works well unless the calcium precipitates and becomes unavailable.
Calcium also tends to attract moisture, which can be a problem in dry ferts.
I'm a fan of just adding calcium to the soil and using ferts that don't have any.
Dolomite, oyster shell, crab meal, bat & seabird guano, rock phosphate, bone meal, etc -- all contain calcium.

On the jacks website they recomend alternating the 20-20-20 and bloom fertilizer. Or mixing half and half.

And foliage pro may have enough calcium. It's in there.

Changing nutes is never the answer. New learning curve. Better to practice with the same thing for a while until you get the hang of the product.

Good info around the jacks site. Look for the alkalinity page. The ph down may be your issue. You may not need to add acid to soft water.

My well water is 8.0 but only 100-150 ppm max.

Jacks citrus (20-10-20) contains zero calcium.

Yes I know. Were we talking about the citrus feed?

That and the duo are designed for limed pottIng mix and tap water.

They have hydro nutes with seperate calcium nitrate too.

And the Dyna Grow has calcium. We just don't know if it will be enough.

Looks like too much salt. Lower fertilizer strength and see is what I would do.
Those pics were from the first time. Flush, then adding CalMag resolved the problem. So I think it was a Cal or Mg deficiency or a lockout caused by salt buildup.

I get what you're saying about changing nutes not being the answer. But I'm thinking that even using the 20-20-20, with the ph down, I may be getting too much P. So I'm giving the FP a try and I'll see how the plants react.

I fed yesterday with 1.8ml/gal of FP. I wanted to start low and see what happens.
