For a 4x4? I'd say the 1k if he can afford it with all its ducting and fans. It's only like 20$ more on amazon.

600s perform better in 4x4s. 1000s are better suited to 5x5s

Expense comes down to the power they consume so if you bought a few of the lights you have and they were equal wattage to the HPS it would just cost the same.
But really a 600w HPS is not expensive to run unless you live in an area with a really high price on the kwh. Its very easy to calculate the cost. It gets expensive if you want to light 3 rooms with 4x 1000w Lights but then if you were doing that the cost is relative to the product produced.

When I say they don't do well in flower, its basically because in veg plants can tick along nice with not much light, when you flower they need a lot more light, so this is where people find they struggle, a 135w LED in a 4x4 for example isn't going to flower well so you would end up with tiny buds which don't develop well, don't fill out, don't weigh much and take twice as long to finish.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those guys who shouts buy a HPS at everyone using an LED. I used to use HPS and now I use very high quality LEDs. But they cost a lot of money to make, build or buy ready made, which is why I suggest HPS, its cheap and reliable and performs well and always has.

I have about 660w of citizen 1825s 90cri 3500k Cobs in one half of my flower tent (which total size is 4x, in the other half I have 520w of quantum boards 3000k. I used to run 1800w of HPS.

Only one harvest so far under the Cobs but was impressed, the Quantums are new to the tent and about 2-3 weeks into flower so I can say more about them once that run is finished and dried.

Plants seem happy under both light so I'm pretty happy.

I Certainly will.

Temps are pretty good, We just had a week long heat wave, it was 29degrees C for a few days. In my tent it got to 82 f, Which is lower than outside.. lol that's because I draw air from my basement which never gets warm. Last night it was 75 degrees f and seems to stay around that area. One day I will get a fancy fan controller which has a thermostat to keep it constant.

Cheap Chinese lights lack quality in many regards, but to label them worthless is dismissing their value. Yes, precision is great if you can afford it, but many can't. When 'pretty good' comes at a fraction of the price for high end US made, it becomes 'pretty damn good!'

Check on the back of the light. It should tell you the power draw.

I think the cheap LED's are great. I've seen some killer grows with them (in pics). One thing I am sure of is that are great for Veg so always hang onto it.

Remember that if you get a 600w you will need to purchase a vortex fan and hood or some sort of reflector and you will probably want a filter and fan speed controller. The fan and filter combo costs around $200 plus ducting and speed controller. THis is an essential tool for growing that will last you for many grows. I'd get a 6" fan because most hoods are 6" fittings.

the chinese light draws out 250w. this is my first grow so just seeing what i can prooduce. will be upgrading my setup prob november time when i have the money. will update soon

yeah, 2 mars300w makes alllllot of heat. in a 2x2, your better off going with a HighBay shop light for $100.... 115Watt, 4000k spec. 17,000 lumans. I have 2 mars300, just dont get enough stretch. Replaced diodes to 4000k in 1 light, plants love it, like triple of the blurple. so, if you have money to throw, look into the baylights.

Well, i had to flip last night, going to run outta room if these chicks are chicks,lol.. This is using a modded blurple mars300 @28 days from seed. I mainlined/LST 2 of them, and the one streches freaking 18 inches wide already. think its FireOG. Might have to pull another small container, but wanted to keep them to see how they harvest out in 36 oz container. Maybe the 2 small ones will be males and make it easier to chop. But it think they all are female.

so now its just the 3 big pots, 2 topped and LSTd, and 1 untouched. Now, 10 more weeks, smh, ugggggg, thats a long time. Might get some BOG seeds, they finish in like 50 days. Its all going to be vape.

so now its just the 3 big pots, 2 topped and LSTd, and 1 untouched. Now, 10 more weeks, smh, ugggggg, thats a long time. Might get some BOG seeds, they finish in like 50 days. Its all going to be vape.

I was even thinking about buy a auto but i only have 50 day or so lol .i would put the 3 in a triangle ..If you haven't already of course.haha and lst all three like your bottom right in the photo above then scrog it . get A LOT of tops.
