Can anyone give me a good cannabutter recipe. I've looked and there not very detailed as to how much bud to use or how much trim to use and what type of butter is best and how long it lasts?

Why is boiling bad?
Dont know didnt write the post was simply showing how the search feature in the top right corner is an easy option to asking a question and waiting forever for a reply, this thread has sat since October and i found the answer in the search bar, as to why boiling is bad i assume its because boiling butter leads to browning butter which changes the taste, also burns off some of the fat content and thats where your thca is stored, could be wrong though, keep watching the thread maybe someone will chime in, im sure @fumble knows all that is needed to make this butter thread epic, probably too busy to do so though, let me know if you ever get the answer and happy growing!

Thanks for the tag Bbcchance. I don't get in here much lol. For butter, I don't do the water method. Not really sure why you wouldn't let it boil...except maybe it would foam up? Idk lol. My typical ratio is 1 oz bud/4 oz popcorn trim to 8 sticks of butter. I use unsalted, clarified butter.

Decarb first, anywhere from 30 to 90 mins at 220f. Then into crock pot insert. Cover with foil and bake 1 hour at 250f. Let cool, then freeze 2-4 hours. Bring to room temp then bake 2-4 more hours, depending on needs, longer for things like MS treatment or muscle spasms. Strain out material and pour butter into measured containers. Depending on the strength of starting material, you will get roughly twenty4 150mg cookies with 1 cup of butter.

Thank you so much for that @fumble your version is even easier than the "easy"one i copied!

I'm not much for complicated stuff ;)

You will have ppl tell you how you need the water blah blah blah to pull impurities and bad taste out of your butter...not true. My butter is dark green and pretty sure there is no nasty taste in my cookies

Bake, freeze and then bake again? What does freezing do? Thanks.

I can't give you the technical reason cuz I can't remember it. But there is something about the expansion and contraction of the freezing process. @skepler can maybe explain?
Hi Fumble,
I can think of no reason to freeze. I freeze my material to make QWISO, bit it stays below freezing the whole time. Also, I noticed that you decarb at "30 to 90 mins at 220f". But then you do your extraction at 250°? If you are doing a water-free extraction at 250°, you shouldn't need to decarb 1st, since 20-25 minutes at 250° will decarb. I decarb my canna-coconut oil after I make the oil at 200°, with water (I'm at 6500 feet and water boils at 200°). I do a second water wash to remove the green and a lot of the odor, then decarb just the oil at 245-250°. I watch the CO2 come out and stick the pot with the oil in it in a cold water bath to cool the oil when the decarbing is visually done. I let mine simmer in the crockpot with water for about 36 hours. I like 2oz of buds per pound of oil, makes for 1.5-2.0 grams of oil per dose.

Two different processes...30 to 90 mins is for my butter, if I make an alcohol reduction then I decarb into coconut oil in the oven at 250f in a pyrex and watch the bubbles like your method.
As for the freezing, I believe i got that from BadKittySmiles but can't truly remember.
