RDWC is a bare root system, you don't run a substrate.

I switched from RDWC to Tupur. That's how I know it works well.
Oh OK I see the buckets are DWC is that how you use Tupur or are you watering like you would soil or drip?

Calcium carbonate is often times the source of the calcium in your tap water and it's not readily available to plants. You'll still need a calcium supplement if your nutrients don't already supply it.

And a quick comment about the poll options: folks who buy liquid nutrients aren't paying for water as much as they're paying for convenience. Complete, one-part foods are plug and play. Dry foods can be messy and tedious to use unless stock solutions in concentrated form are made. That being said, I do buy raw salts and make supplements for a fraction of what retail stores charge.

no, you don't HAVE to add another calcium supplement. i just plainly
stated that calcium from tap works, so whatever you wanna argue,
go stick it up your ass. it works for me, and i get 1.3-1.5 grams per
watt (running things like krome's the white). are your yields on par with
that? develop the microbiome in your medium and it will work for you too.

The insoluble calcium from your tap water will not work as an available source of calcium for your plants. Check the guaranteed analysis on your plant food, does it supply calcium? You mention microbiome? Are you growing in soil with water soluble salts? Seems a little redundant to me.

I respect Jacks is much as the next grower but I don't quite understand the DG hate. They're one of the good guys. And you think you saw an increase in yield with a PK boost for a week but didn't notice a difference with silicates? You might want to visit that one again.
I like Jacks but someone show me Jacks or Dyna Gro or whatever that pulls 2 to 2.5 per light,

I use a locally manufactured version;
Hydro-gardens.com

https://hydro-gardens.com/product/hydroponic-special-formula-25lbs-bag-5-11-26/

  • 5-11-26 hydroponic special mix
  • Calcium nitrate (Yara brand)
  • Mag sulfate, aka epsom salt
  • MKP, aka monopotassium phosphate (Haifa Brand)
I checked the numbers and this stuff has higher levels of micros.

Also, using the above mentioned brands I was able to save substantially over the equivalent Jacks products.

These nutrients are what commercial greenhouses use, as well as many commercial Cannabis facilities here in Colorado.

Whether or not you want to supplement with epsom salt or MKP, these dry nutrient salts give the grower complete control over their plant nutrition, because you know exactly what's in them.

They give you one more thing as well; peace of mind, because you know what ISN'T in them. No strange additives, no preservatives, no emulsifiers, no PGRs, just the salts.

They're a perfect foundation for any nutrient profile you might want. There's no reason not to add humic and fulvic acids, for example. Not that there's any particular need to do so.

Thank you so much for your positive addition. I really appreciate it.
Though, what exactly does it have besides Chlorine that Jacks doesn't? It cost's you $50for 25lb and then shipping. Jacks has more Mg & Sul. I am not thinking Chlorine is a micro I would be concerned about. Jacks has all the same micro's and barely a difference in amount. Defiantly not enough to cause issues.

I am going to have to say that unless you pick the right plant, top that girl and veg her long then you ain't seeing no 2-2.5lb / light. I am not into waiting for that to happen. I do quick turnarounds. So, in the end I make more than the single light grower. I am in a perpetual harvest. 2lb/month. Yes sometimes more, sometimes less. That's with 4000 watts in bloom and 1000 in veg. I could add more plants and really fill the room up but not for another few months. I spent a lot on upgrades recently.

This is in my bloom room now. I had it empty awhile back doing some cleaning.
BTW- the reflective material I got for free from someone who was setting up a grow then cancelled it. I wouldn't have spent money in that expensive stuff. Though I can't pass up free

The big girl in the back was my out of hand year old Super Silver Haze mother. She just got too tall and I never trained her right when I started taking clones.

Yield is the culmination of many things but more than anything it's a function of grower's skill. Btw, 2 to 2.5 per light isn't exactly difficult even with static, overhead lighting.

I think your placing a bit of emphasis of that poundage is based more on grower skill. If someone follows the basics and has the parameters there then it's still a maybe. Plus the original poster never stated what wattage. I would assume 1000. You can feed it right, you can give it all the light, you can veg and top and lollipop, and ScROG to your hearts delight. That is the skill. Skill has many benefits, though, genetics will determine the outcome.
Also, 2-2.5 lbs of bud with half of that being popcorn nugs and fluff isn't my idea of 2-2.5 lb. I know many here think the bottom line is HOW MUCH can I get off of one light. I prefer the density. No flarf, fluff, or dingle berries. That shit goes in the bubble bag for some hash to be made into Rosin.

An average yielding cut will hit those number no problem with an experienced grower.

When I ran the numbers, I saw that the hydro gardens nutes had more micros.

It was less expensive for me to go to the manufacturing facility in Colorado Springs than to buy Jacks. I've been very happy with it.

I'm not here to start a pissing contest about which is better, only to point out that dry nutrient makers are all over and a little digging should turn one up in most states.
