Club Quantum Board

I always thought QB was the name for HLG boards that were released. I know there are multiple other COB pcb diode arrays out there that are similar but thought that Quantum was something Robin called his board release ?
My razors are made by Robin and are midpowered diodes mounted to a PCB just like the QBs, I was not aware we were so snobby in this thread about which panels made by Robin were being posted that I would get shit for posting a different panel made by them. I really hope the QB threads don't turn into the cob threads bickering over which led is better lol....

You mean trademark "quantum board"? It may already be taken, but as far as I'm concerned any PCB pre-mounted LEDs, especially the ones made by hlg, fit in this section.

So do you think they should trademark different names in the future if they expand the boards to double or quad size also? Or if the sell single strips should they be "quantum strips", lol?

Frankly, YES.

Why not? It's their hard work; why risk someone else hijacking it? Isn't that what branding is for?

I want to see them succeed, something I've said to them and everyone else more times than I can count. Branding and trademarking their name is a legal, viable and effective means of protecting their work from unscrupulous operators, of which there are many in this space.

I thought better lighting was the whole point?

Imo theres a point where most should focus on their growing skills rather than solely on how many lumens per watt their LEDs put out, lol. Anyhow, every one of these and cobs lack uv and ir that people like growmau5 and Robin are working on supplementing to actually complete spectral output for our plants. Efficiency is cool, new tech is also cool, discussions over how to improve setups in different situations is sweet as well, bickering over whether the midpowered PCB mounted leds I am using in my razors and the QBs (both lights designed and made by the guys at hlg) are the same (which I have posted the differences) is not so much.

So for clarification, here are my horticultural lighting group made midpowered PCB mounted leds, not current most up to date midpowered LEDs used in the QBs. Sorry for anyone I offended. [emoji106]

I also want them to succeed, they're awesome.

So can I post here and call mine quantum strip panels, is that an acceptable compromise, lol?

I just like any type of Cob diode light. I don't like when people refer to them as LED as it makes people think there like the cheap 3w diode china lights. All of these boards whether a Razor, Quantum are all Cobs.

@Stephenj37826 @robincnn Would like to add supplemental light like Chilled led has. Get moving lol !:hump:
They(hlg) actually are working on it a bit already. They sent me out this ir flower initiator I've been using that's pretty awesome.

Nice ! I've been looking at rapid led. I'm thinking of adding bars to my frame but I'm not even sure what I want to add. The QB gets it done in spades start to finish. I figure I'm going to have months of down time so why not play around a bit. Would like to try and optimize both veg and flower but not sure if there will be any significant Gaines. Would like to mix white with far reds and be able to flip a switch to light them up. I beleave the far reds are only on towards the end of a light cycle ? The whites I wonder if adding 5k or so chips will add anything to veg ? I use a 4K cob quantum style work light for a small veg light for the teens.

I will probly make a rebuild post to follow ideas along the way.

I think that the complete spectrum of cobs and QBs teamed with the light output per watt, makes it very easy to keep MJ happy and healthy full cycle. That being said, I do think it's necessary to add both ir and uv to get the most out of your plants. I'm glad that people like hlg and growmau5 are making moves towards getting the capability to everybody. True full spectrum would be great if it could be done efficiently/affordably for home growers.

Right on there. I'm just in a small 2x2 so adding full size COB's are out, that's why I was looking at rapid led chips led. Uv ir seems interesting I'll have to do some research as they have those chips as well. I wonder if they can be ran off the same driver and do you run them for the full light cycle ?

The little photons do great in a 2x2
