I made a video of a DIY rosin press setup I built. The video is not perfect, but is pretty good on the basic needs and general concept of heated plates controlled via PID. I linked basically everything I used, in the videos description, as well as will ink them here. Links may go out of stock or no longer be active as time goes on, who knows, so you may need to do some basic thinking and search for similar items. This is a DIY(DO-it-yourself) build, not an AIY(Assemble-it-yourself), so be ready to drill and tap.

The first 10 mins are the parts...the second 10-15mins are building and setting up...the last 5 mins are of actually squishing some rosin with it.

DIY PID and Plate Stuff...~$100 for everything
3x5 plates: http://amzn.to/2mXnQjl
PID w/ relay and sink: http://amzn.to/2nj7zTi
100w AC Heating Elements: http://amzn.to/2mg3gax
Project Box: http://amzn.to/2mAFBUR
PG11 Cable glands: http://amzn.to/2mg3de9
2 pack of power cables: http://amzn.to/2mPMD8J
Wago221 variety pack: http://amzn.to/2mg7nDs
Floor Flange(mounting to ram): http://amzn.to/2nkvWA9
1/4” Tap and #7 bit (thermocouple and other stuff): http://amzn.to/2mhIbfN
Presses...$130-$175 on average
Cheap 12 ton Press(what I use): http://amzn.to/2mg3Wf0
Best press: http://amzn.to/2mgcljJ

Grand total of ~$275 for Plates, Controller, and Press
...could easily be done cheaper

That was an awesome video, gene. As a sparky I would recommend two things: 1) make sure the AC side of your circuit is using white as neutral in the future. It doesn't make much difference here, but it's a bad habit to get into, 2) use shrink tubing on the heating elements to prevent the insulation from moving.

Overall, awesome design and layout. 9.5/10 would build.

Thanks.
Yes, totally aware, and have been debating on taking it down and redoing just for that major flaw. Was in a DC mind state I guess. They are all wired correct, but I called them incorrectly. Then like you say for this build that can take 220v, it won't matter.

Haha, we all do it, man. I wouldn't re-do the video, just put up an on-screen correction. Very good build, I'll have to try this out.

Harbor Freight sells an even smaller, more... "portable" 6 tin press. would that be sufficient you think?

Have you done a side-by-side with/without the bag, how much contaminate really gets into the rosin vs how much rosin gets trapped into the bag trade-off?

A closer look; not much rosin in the bag at all?

I use bags for sift/hash pressing, or small batches of flower(1-3bags).
Anything more for flowers...I don't use bags till the end.
Press raw pucks...collect...then rosin the rosin through a bag. The bags don't keep much...but when you're going through lb's and and using 100+ bags...it adds up.
Also...when rosining rosin...there is virtually nothing left on the bag because it can truly flatten it...as where when filled with flower the oil can find pockets and corners.

They also don't make bags as big as my pre press pucks. But I can can use filter paper like elysian research does.
thanks a lot! you just saved me like 400 bucks! gonna order everything tonight :)
Get on it!

Being an absolute noob, I'd like to see a video on your whole process.
