2017 Grow your own thread

So I thought I would start a 2017 grow our own thread. Enough with the LP not LP or BM or CC. This thread is about growing our own.

So I will start. I am doing a DWRC grow with a "Bubbleflow" setup (see:
) that I had built special for me. It is almost identical to the Bubbleflow system except mine has a drain (you need a drain why they didn't put one I don't know). Plus I am doing a 5 pot soil grow for a sick friend.

I am using 3x600W + 1x400W digital ballasts with HPS lights (2.2KW) . I can turn the ballasts down to 400W for veg and still use the HPS. I found it makes little difference using HPS for short veg periods, and starting seeds with HPS continuing all the way into flower works fine too. So I never bothered with the added expense of vegetative lights. I also don't use LED but a buddy had decent results recently so I will revisit that at some point.

This is all for 12 pots connected in a recirculating system of 6 pots + 20G res with large air stones in each pot. One 6 pot system for Sativa and one 6 pot system for Indica. That way I can flush the Indicas and Sativas at different weeks since they finish at different times. Plus the 5 soil plants are all Indica since my friend gets pain and sleep relief the best from strong Indica.

So strains...

818 Headband
Deadhead OG
Blackwater Kusk
Durban Poison
Great White Shark
Lemon Jack
Blueberry
Blue Cheese
Bubba Kush 2.0

Really healthy looking plants Brewery! I forgot to add to my introduction that I recently moved and now I am on a WELL. I started off with well water (bypass softener of course) but it was really hard, hard water at 400PPM at the 0.5 scale. I did some basic water strip testing and it was all CACO3. I tried to use a balanced for hardwater nute formula like Flora micro for hardwater, but my plants developed all kinds of nute deficiencies and excesses, way too many to diagnose. I then bought a http://evolutionro1000.com/ which meant I could make RO water on a scale enough to power the DWRC system.

Now, my almost dead plants are becoming green again. Life goes on in the grow room. But how scary it was there for a minute.

It's not one I will be cloning. Durban Poison was the most virile of all of them. Will take a pheno of that for sure. I'm going to order a 1:1 CBD clone and a bunch of others from THCBIOMED for outdoors this summer, it will save me from having to mother them.

Using well water you should consider running a steriliser or bennies...you will have problems if you dont

It's RO now, but I still use hydrosparkle and grozyme. Due to the damage sustained, I needed a root primer so I am using some kelp extract of nitrogen.

I noticed right away that this form of Nitrogen was way more bio-available to the plants than other forms. I added it to the res and my one plant pretty much moved its leaf in front of my eyes. It was all krinkled and shit and then it straightened out. Wild.

Also Redi. res temps come into play too right. Under 68 and we are good? But the brown slime cyanobacteria doesn't care about temps?

I have gotten a clear slime before even though my (res) temps were under 70. So I believe there are some kinds of bacteria that are temp resistant.

I use tap water but I always add chlorine to my system when fresh water is added.

They're doing great...I love RDWC. Less work, faster growth, bigger yields...whats not to love?
I sure don't love the startup cost but ive seen people post some ridiculous size plants pulling huge numbers with those setups.
