Peppers suitable for indoor growing

I have this dream (pipe dream?) of growing some peppers when my ladies are done. so I have to order some seeds soon. I could use some advice on which cultivar to choose. I imagine doing a lot of sculpting on the poor things to keep in my footprint, but I suppose compact growth is a good thing? I don't need super hots, if possible I would love to grow spicy stuffers, as it's impossible to get something like that around here. I wake up dreaming about poblanos even if I've never tasted one lol. I love jalapenos and the generic red chillies they have in stores.

So here are some I'm thinking about:
Anaheim
Poblanos
Jalapenos
?

I also plan on growing herbs, especially thyme, basil, oregano, ?.

I'll be getting a couple of quantum boards as soon as budget allows. I also plan on building a box for lettuce/greens too, even if that is kind of intimidating after reading the cob lettuce thread lol. I'd appreciate any DLI information on the different plants, especially the herbs seems to be difficult to find.

I just finished a basil grow under a 315w CMH, and it turned out very well. I had the plants in 5.5" pots, and went with a large number of minimally-branched plants instead of a few big bushes. The plants got to 22" in those pots without showing any signs of stress, but I'm sure they were root bound.

I also could not find much information about DLI for herbs. I found one study that indicated the essential oil production in basil increased as the DLI increased, but they only measured up to (I think) 25 DLI. I started my basil at 25-29 DLI after they reached 4" tall and had very good growth (and flavor).

I am going to be starting jalapeños next. From what I have found, you can expect 24-36" for the final plant height, and the recommended pot size is 10-12" (3-5 gallons). I am going to be trying the "Biker Billy" jalapeño variety, which is supposed to be both hotter and a bit more compact at 18-24" tall.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I've read your basil thread several times, interesting. I'd grow maybe one or two plants a time, reseed every couple of months to have unbolted. I'll probably start with coco and maybe go full hydro eventually. I'm more concerned about how to grow woodier plants like thyme and oregano - easy to mess up those long life babies. but oh so tasty.

What did you end up doing with all that basil, btw? I hope you continue to document your experiments.

Edit: that bb jalapeno looks great. thanks.

The plan is to make pesto, probably in the next day or two. Probably a lot of pesto..
