What LEDs for 3x3 tent?

Building it is part of the hobby and fun. Having IR and UV isn't going to do much anyway and if he wants it that bad he's better off adding a reptile bulb he can turn off while he's around his plants so he doesn't damage his eyes, or run it on a separate timer so it's off when you're around them.
I was considering doing this, but a 10.0 reptile fixture and tube is ~ $70 + a timer. Unless that would cover > 4 x 4 it doesn't make sense to me

I have and have not seen anything remarkable. The IR didn't do anything really noteworthy. And a 1000W DE HPS only puts out .3% UVB/A combined which is 3W, or around 1.5W of each. In any environment that's not enough to make a difference. To make a difference you need to add pure UVB/uva T5 bulbs in a separate fixture.

MH finishers have a good amount of UV but still not really that great, especially the DE bulbs that lack in spectrum from the single ended ones.

Numbers I'm quoting are sphere results with references.

This extremely biased test is what you're basing your numbers off of? Lol now it starts to make sense. This is where the numbers in your signature come from correct?

And then you go and link the harshest UV bulb on the market that many of us here have actually used and not had the best results with.

Have you used that UV bulb? What were your results?

Explain how it's biased? Numbers aren't biased thy are a measurement of PAR output for the same given area. These are numbers at recommended heights and at closer ones... We will see soon enough. I've never needed Extra UV... Probably never will honestly... I just use good quality genetics and I'm happy. All the people that have use that UV bulb have said that they liked them.. At least that that used them right

Nobody NEEDS UV, it's an extra that brings extra quality. Plants grow actually better without UV, because UV stresses plants , but it makes them protect themselves and in doing that, they produce more trics.

My hydro shop, only one in town, said he could get me a SS 315 for$400.00... Great deal, except he can't take my PayPal Credit account.... I pay a little more online, but 6 months to pay, no payments, no interest if paid in 6 mo.. That's to good to pass...
I say buy another tent, and bargain to get 2 315s for $800 from some greedy hydro shop owner.... Insist on a Christmas discount... Remember, a responsible grower is obligated to smoke at least half of what they grow... So gage your needs accordingly....

That's what I paid growers house for mine. I buy from them a lot and always email for a purchase order and they hook it up.

Nate and the crew are great to deal with, very patient, and their CS and communication is excellent. A+

Man you LED guys are a sensitive bunch.

Im in the market and have been frequenting this section and nearly every thread has a dick measuring contest.

Everyone has a differing opinion which is cool. Not sure why some cannot respect that.

315w cmh is a solid light. I use 4200k for veg and flower. Only one grow with it but I can definitely see it fetching over 1gpw.

I managed a mere.8gpw but my canopy got all fucked up as it was a strain I never grew before. Id have pulled 1gpw easy if my canopy was even.

Was your CMH open air , or did you air cool? Those are respectable results as well for a first attempt.

One was an open phantom hood and the other was a retrofitted 6" xtrasun with the glass on it. Which in hindsight was silly since I wasnt air cooling. No need to. They ran very cool.

Strain was a gsc cross and gsc arent very heavy yielders so I had that against me.

The biggest obstacle was the uneven canopy IMO and overgrown plants. Could only fit 1 plant under each light.

@firsttimeARE you might be growing each leaf bigger on each little bit longer stem with the 4200k with smaller buds than you might have with a 3100k. Seriously. I grew for some time with the old Philips Mastercolor cmh at 4000k. Big dark leaves on the happiest plants you ever saw and fluffy/smallish buds that never firmed up. Lots of frost and beautiful green plants, very leafy, dark green leaves.

I also have a 3x3 tent set up and was looking for what light would be best if i wanted to go LED....I wasnt really interested in a DIY and still wanted the most bang for my buck. I have read through the whole thread a couple time and decided to go with the Timber-400w Vero 29 V7 (4cob) kit. ordered my light and it was in a timely fashion. Dan answered all the questions and more that i had to ask. Cant wait to get the light, fire up the GH waterfarm, and get SCROGing!

That looks like a very good product all around. Lot's of photons feeling their oats in a tent that size.
