You've been using inductions for a few years yeah? How do you like them?
I've had my eyes on a few 300w ibeam 3 & 5k's for vegging and pheno hunting but i have never used them before.
I like them for veg and finishing my plants
See I`ve just seen one get broken (in the post) so I try and avoid glass lamps if I can
but yeah they are nice quiet, they get a bit hot not like a hps will more like an mh in a cool tube you get good light spread, 3k or 5k will veg nice plants 5k maybe give you a bit more bushing 3k you`ll get stronger stems.
There good with some leds more so when using red band leds as they help you see the plants a bit better and fill out the spectrum
best thing is you can nab the odd bargain like I got a 300w round induction lamp with the driver for £30 on zeebay the other month, that should last 1 to 5 years the drivers normally fail long before the tubed, just don`t hit your head on them and smash them, lol
The other good thing is they are very hard to meter correctly so inductions lamps can sometimes go upto 80% unnoticed by a power meter, worse case they catch 80% of what the lamps using
Yeah I like them over tube lights and cfls
they beat cfl`s for light output hands down, I`d take 40w induction over 80w of cfl anyday
I just won`t play the "grow light makers" massive money for induction tubes as they buy the tubes from china just like everyone else
There not as popular as leds so you really can find some good deals when you avoid the people that know their benefits and are trying to charge you top grow light money for them
I`ve used a 200w bright max 5000k for veg for a year or so, in a 1.2m x 1.2m tent we we`re vegging 10 to 30 plants no problem really nice we added about 150w of led so we were using around 350w where we would normally put 400w to 600w of mh in a cool tube
It grew around the same with less fire risk, I think induction lamps do veg really really nice plants
and like I said with some red leds they can flower up some nice ones too
only down side would be if the tube ever got smashed, that`s the one thing led has over induction, cfl`s, mh`s, hps and so on, very little glass or nasty stuff if you bust an led light just bin it or use it for parts not much cleaning up to do
As 5000k of led will almost veg up as nice of a plant as induction will
big benefit to induction is the size you can get a 200w or 400w lamp or bigger easy and cheap and it will cover a large area for veg no problem then its just one lamp and its cheap and easy to replace it, kind like how easy replacing HID`s..... but there easier to cool and you can touch them and run the lamps exposed with a simple shield
like the high yielding hps/mh cowboys do but you won`t get a fire if your plants happen to touch the lamp yeah they may get damaged but induction lamps glass stays way cooler than a hid lamp gets so they are safer in that respect too
Yeah I like them its kinda a toss up between them and cob leds as to what I like best, but 1w led chips are still great for yield too and veg and some of the old big 1w led panels are cheap as hell now
