I think I oversized the holes a bit.

That's what I'm doing. It's coming along better now that I am developing a method.

Some of the holes are stripped on the sinks...... Fuckin sucks. I guess self tapping screws are in my future. It's a little dissapointing. I may be able to get away with a size up of machine screw. There are threads there, they are just real shallow. Or I can just go get a tap set. Not that I am excited about spending anymore money.

Bro, M3 x8-12mm long SELF TAPPING electronic screws is all I've ever used, period. Just drill a 5/32" hole and screw those in. They make their own thread and are just a pleasure to use.

Local stuff will ALL be non self tapping I can promise you that. That is why you use these!

Bummer I was a little worried that would happen on the heat sink mounting holes when I made mine but they were good. The cob holders were all installed. Do your sinks have 4 mounting holes?

I have researched and plan to do plenty more. But I'm looking for a little input and direction from you gurus.

Currently I run 2 600's in flower. I am looking to save on utilities and not overload what little available amps I have to work with.

I want to build my own cree cxb3590 fixture to perform the same and ideally better than what I am doing now. From what I have read/seen I will be at am advantage because the photon/heat will be way better with cob and at a lower wattage.

So in the meantime while I research more I am looking for input/analysis of my thought process.

16- cxb3590 @ 3500k
2- MW HLG-185H-C700A
16- 150MM pin heatsinks
2-dimmers

And all the other requisite hardware to make 2 fixtures. I run 2 3x3 flood trays and would have one over each tray. I want efficiency and longevity but want performance. Is this overkill? I haven't crunched all the numbers for consumption etc... yet. I am just curious if i am on the right track for what I want to do. I have costed it at around 1k but ideally want to keep it a lot less than that.

seriouse after all the research there is some pricey leds out there and to build one and a good one u are looking at 400-600 bucks after some research i found installing solar panels come out at about 1200bucks but i dont pay for electricty at all and in the long run i can still run my hps and metal hallid without the harsh bill every month i have even added another 600 so that 3 now

Home Depot sells self tapping screws. Not exactly like the one you linked to, but should work. I spoke with Vivi last night about the issues. Seems like they just started drilling and tapping the sides of the heat sinks. So they may have a few kinks to work out. I am going to try some 4mm screws. If that doesn't work, then self tapping.

Also, the holes/threads on the sinks are 4mm. Of course home depot didnt have enough so I will need to drive across town to get more.

Sorry I missed your post. They have 2 holes total. From the sounds of it kingbrite has just started offering them with mounting holes. My guess is they might do it in house. Im not sure but all other holes with threads are anodized. These are not.

Speaking with Vivi at kingbrite it sounds like they weren't sure exactly what size the threads were because she asked me to let her know what size they were once I found out. They send 3.5x12mm but I can confirm they are 4mm. I bought 4x10mm and they fit perfect.

Remote has an on off. And the potentiometer turns all the way off too. I want another one, but its $15 and China post is $20. So I will probably wait untill I place another order.

Wonder if you had a second remote pot if they would both work at the same time with the remote. Would you need a different pot to wire them to the same box? Like a 50ohm?

That's a good question. May research that.
I just received a pdf info sheet and it says that the remote is coded to its own unit only. And it can dim up to 5 drivers. I guess I could actually wire the drivers on the other fixture to this so all could be dimmed. Rarely will my canopy height be different on the 2 tables. So I wouldnt need much wire.

I do not own this house. And I already bought the stuff. So I wont be dropping $1200 on solar anytime soon. It would be great. Especially because of where I live. Plenty of sun.

And who pays you for electricity? Do you have surplus you sell back to the utilities?
